After last night's game against the Pistons, seeing the replay of the no-call on Haslem when Corliss Williamson hacked him, and talking to my friends who went to the game, the old question comes back: what's with the refs and the Heat? This is the second recent game (Cavaliers) when a last second foul is not called and it may have cost us the game or overtime at least. This is nothing new. Last season Riley got fined for calling the refs out on it. I'm convinced it's because the refs have an animosity against Riley and are making the team pay for it. I hoped that now that he's no longer the coach it would stop, but it seems not the case. What do you guys think?

Bad calls go against every team. It happens to everybody. I wouldn't say that there is a conspiracy to get the Heat. The game against the Pistons had bad calls everywhere.

I don't see too many Heat games, but I'm sure its just the fans overreacting to a few bad calls which happens quite a bit. (Example: Pistons @ T-Wolves call, we Piston fans still have it in our signatures)

that hurts right? well it has happened to us twice in the past 4 games. i haven't been able to find the number of calls agains the the heat vs. against the pistons in that game, but i'm sure there was a big difference. the pistons attempted 36 free throws, the heat 22. c'mon. i also suspect that the final non call was a gift to the pistons because of the ridiculous call in the minny game.

riley had that famous interview last year where he lashed out at the refs, especially stevie javie. i used to say you can't blame the refs but started paying more attention and i'm telling you is true - almost every game the heat gets less calls than the opponent. man, i wish there was a ruling challenge in the nba.

If there was a challenge system in the NBA similar to that of the NFL, all of this could have been prevented. Each team would receive a total of two challenges for the game and if it turns out they were wrong they are charged a time out. Stan Van Gundy could have challenged the call last night, it would have been reviewed by the officials and Udonis would have been at the line shooting two free throws.

The refs are definitely to blame, but ultimately it is the NBA's fault for not taking responsibility and implementing something to prevent these things from happening.

I remember reading an interview with Ronnie Nunn the director of officiating a while ago and in it he was asked about a challenge system similar to the NFL and he said it would "take too long". It would not take too long, it takes no more than 1 minute to review a call in the NFL and if the coach who challeneged the call was wrong then they would be issued a timeout and no time would be lost.

There, Accord's idea is perfect. No problems anymore. Detroit wins against Minny and the Heat go to the line against the Pistons. (And still end up losing :P)

Seriously, it would not be hard. I see no problem with having a review system and it would not detract from the game in any way. :bigthumbu

I don't believe this BS regarding refs and teams. In every game some team is going to feel like they got gipped by the refs one way or another. Its not about "My team ain't getting the calls..." Its about what the Heat can do to draw more calls.

If you saw the game, you wouldn't be saying that.

I guess you could say that. But almost every team has a problem with officiating and if you are a fan of that team it multiplies tenfold. I honestly don't believe that some refs have it in for specific teams.

I was calling for the video review in the "if you remade the NBA" thread. It has to happen. The NBA is afraid that the ref's reputation would suffer but: a: can't be worse than it is already, B: maybe it will show that they don't blow that many calls after all, c: nobody respects nfl refs less and d: if they are so goo, as the nba claims, what are they afraid of? i'ts just denial.
