wow Wanny didnt make an excuse to keep Fielder in, i'm amazed. Good call but it wont do much the Dolphins still suck =)
I read dw's thoughts and was surprised. Jay, I understand, was somewhat miffed. Feeley was incredibly pissed at the INT he threw. Jay would be oh well. Some reporter in one of the Miami papers said Wanny pulled the plug too early. 8 pass attempts w/ 2 interceptions in the 1st half is not a good reason? What game was he watching? You are right jets, Its all for naught.
"Fiedler deserved better. Any fifth-year starter deserves more patience, more trust, than to be unceremoniously yanked after two quarters of the first game when trailing by such a surmountable total." The preceding statement was made by Greg Cote of the Miami Hearld. Greg Cote just proved that he's doesn't know diddlypoo about football. Jay Fiedler deserves the door. Surely, any fifth-year starter can outplay a newbie OB by a big enough margine that no one questions who should be the starter. Surely, any fifth-year starter can make a play when called upon. Jay Fiedler sucks. How can the idiots, covering Phins football in Miami, not see that yet. It's not going to get any better with Fiedler. I think making Feeley the starter makes sense and might prove to be valuble in the long run. We need to know if the kid can play and he might as well get in there and learn the offense. I'm sure that he won't screw up anymore, while learning the offense, than Fiedler would just being Jay Fiedler.
I read that article while watching the Redskins game and nearly died laughing. This Cote must moonlight as a comedian. I wonder if he wasn't taking some medicine prescribed by Dr. Ricky 2 Ints in 8 pass attempts in a half deserves better? Granted A J threw and int that was retd for 6 but he was real angry w/ himself whereas Jay would have been oh well. I said Sat night to a friend & may have posted it here that Feeley will be the starter by Week 3 as will Lamar Gordon. If so, there may be reason for hope.
I thought it was a good decision just becuase Fiedler was struggling(2 ints in 8 atts), but they were still in the game....it was only 7-0, if Feeley sparks them, they could have still won the game...and he did lead them right down the field to a FG att, which Mare missed...if he makes that, thier only down 7 at the end and have a chance...
At this point, I say dedicate the season to the young offensive players...let them get a season under thier belts together....consider that Feeley, Gordon, the whole line, Chambers and Boston will all be 28 or younger next year, let them gel and see what happens....its not like Fiedler has any chance to lead this team to a Super Bowl, so if your not gonna win it all, you might as well build for tomorrow....
I agree. Beef. Next year will be the silver lining to this cloudy year. A new coach & top 12 pick will be a bonus. Keep Spielman, he's done well so far. 2 young offensive Skill players for Ogunleye make him GM of the year IMO Other than Junior & Tim Bowens, The D is not as old as everyone says. They still have 2 or 3 more yrs left. The draft was good this yr. Bua, Poole, Hadnot, & Pope will be good for years to come The question that remains; Will the Dolphins be Super Bowl Champs in '06 or '07?
The best part is that the Eagles have your 2nd round pick for next year, and from the looks of things it will be a high one. Sweeeeeeeeeeet.
