<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After stuttering his way through grammar school, being ignored by college recruiters in high school and having the offensive side of his game continually questioned in college and the early parts of his pro career, Kenyon Martin made his first All-Star team as a reserve yesterday. And, no, it's probably not going to remove the tree-sized chip from his shoulder. That's just part of what makes Martin who he is. But for a guy who has battled his way through all that, plus a couple of broken legs, being able to represent the Eastern Conference at the All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Feb. 15 will be sweet vindication. "It's a great thing," said Martin, the Nets' leading scorer. "I'm excited, obviously. It's something we all wanted and have been waiting for."</div> Full Story by BRAD PARKS
Thanks for sharing Jay. Great news, as much as I don't like his attitude. I have to admit he is a great player and deserves his spot. His all-star spot is so much more deserving then the likes of Ak47 and Dirk. I'm really glad he made it, it'll most likely boost his confidence to be selected as one of the best, that's exactly what he is. He'll be sure to show more of this later in the season.
All I can say is bench VC and Jermaine, put in K-Mart and Ron so they can terrify the other players who's afraid of getting injured. hehehe. JK But it would be nice to see some players (Kmart and Ron) to put the passion back in the ASG.
Kenyon Martin has been great for the past 2 years and it's great to see him finally getting a stop on the roster.
K Mart wont be in the ASG if it wasnt for Jason Kidd, his stats wasnt as amazing before Jason Kidd came
^ I believe that can't be any further than the truth. If you have ever watched Kmart play, his game is a lot more refined in that he doesn't need Kidd to score as much as he did. Infact, he probably score more if Kidd wasn't around. Look at Shawn Marion, after Kidd left, his points per game rose.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheHitman:</div><div class="quote_post">K Mart wont be in the ASG if it wasnt for Jason Kidd, his stats wasnt as amazing before Jason Kidd came</div> That's the greatest misconception about K-Mart. His stats wasn't amazing before Jason Kidd because he was a rookie! He was a rookie who came from a college wherein he's known for his defense and shotblocking. Do yourself a favor and watch a Nets game seriously and you'll see that K-Mart has a baby-hook and can sometimes extend to the perimeter. Oh and just to prove that he deserves to be in the ASG, he scored 24 points and grabbed 13 boards (6 off.) against the Heat.
Nothing but love for my man K-mart well deserved. He plays with nothing but energy all game long. Its kinda crazy to have 2 nets representing the team at the all-star game. Hopefully RJ half court game will continue to improve & then we will have 3 all-stars in the future
kmart sure deserves his spot... whenever i watch a njn game, i always watch for kmart, he always plays energetic and enthusiastic, which just feeds his temammates energy... now after a dunk he can let out a yell yeah yeah kmart kmart!
he was one of the biggest snubs last year, and certainly got vindicated this year...one of my fav players. he plays the game with such ferocity and enthusiasm...definitely arrogant, but i dont care how arrogant a player is when i just love watching their game. but ya gotta give kidd SOME credit...his entire game is making others better. i think k-mart has game, but having kidd oop him and set him up all game long is really gonna help him. with kidd's awesome court vision, its gonna help k-mart get at least 10 of the 18 ppg hes avg'ing Ranks #10 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(9.9) Ranks #11 in the NBA in Field-Goal Percentage(0.499) Ranks #18 in the NBA in Steals Per Game(1.5) Ranks #16 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds(329.0) Ranks #7 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game(7.8) Ranks #16 in the NBA in Double-doubles(20.0) Ranks #13 in the NBA in Field Goals Per 48 Minutes(9.8) Ranks #7 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(10.4) Ranks #16 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking(21.74) Ranks #11 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking Per 48 Minutes(28.95) those are awesome stats though...all star worthy for sure
I can only smile when I think about the discussion we had last year... some peeps saying that K-mart would never be an all-star.. for sure... It's a good thing he made it, and he will only get better!
^^^I know. I sure hope cross yo ova and olskulfunktitude is here. I'm sure they'll say that Martin isn't worthy. He's the Eastern conference player of the week. Need I say more?
yeah.. but he's Eastern conference player of the week because Antoine Walker isn't in the East anymore
^^^^That would be olskulfunktitude's reply I'm sure. Hehehe. But look at his stats the past week. He was a monster. He was averaging 21 points and 12 rebounds in 4 wins. All Star? You betcha.
