<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Grizz will make another run at Erick Dampier before the trade deadline. He's everything Memphis thinks its needs inside -- a rebounder, a banger, a solid low-post defender. But the Warriors aren't sure what to do. They know Damp will opt out of his deal at season's end and have to think about dealing him when he's at his maximum trade value. But they consider Dampier one of the top 10 centers in the league and won't give him away, especially when they aren't sure if Adonal Foyle can stay healthy.</div> Read the rest
I'd love to see the Grizzlies acquire Dampier. Possibly a Gasol for Dampier deal. Of course, the two players' contracts don't match up, so how about Gasol-Outlaw for Dampier-Murphy? The Grizzlies don't need Gasol. The fans were booing him the other night. He's the exact opposite of what Hubie Brown and the rest of the coaching staff like. Gasol may have a high scoring average, but most of those come off of hook shots and free-throws. He doesn't actually provide a post presence, because he's not a physical player; his defense is also non-exhistant. A front-court of Wright and Dampier could be overwhelming.
I'd hate to lose Outlaw, he tries so hard. He can be a real defensive and rebounding machine on his good days. He just has no offensive presence. I say get rid of Swift, he has great potential but he's damn lazy. I say rid yourselves of that burden, he might awaken in Goldenstate. Dampier....having Dampier is a dream come true. Both an offensive and defensive presence. A lot better then Gasol that's for sure. Any means of getting him with the Grizzlies, I say go for it, you're in need of an awesome big man.
yea...who doesnt want damp? hes a force. in a league where big men are a commodity, someone with the rebounding and low post d that damp brings to the table is sought after by pretty much any team. he'd make a good raptor

Outlaw has a contract worth more than twenty million dollars. He'd need to be added to the deal to make it work. The NBA has a salary cap you know.
I think he would be a perfect compliment to the Grizzlies. This would make them serious conteders in my eyes, but would Golden State do this? Foyle is good, but he is only good when he is healthy, it doesn't help having a broken center on the sidelines(trust me, I know). We'll see though, the trade deadline isn't so far away.

Anyway, this deal hasn't happened yet so I don't expect it to soon.
Dampier and Murphy sound good. However, I think Bo will be a huge loss for Memphis. He is a great hustle player who will be deeply missed if traded.
Interesting. We know if Jerry agrees to a trade, then it will immediately put doubt in his fellow GMs' mind.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">Interesting. We know if Jerry agrees to a trade, then it will immediately put doubt in his fellow GMs' mind.</div> Haha yeah. Look how well Mike Miller is playing now. With Gooden and Giricek fizzling.
I don't think that Golden State would just put up Troy Murphy like that. He's been injured this year, but he's a solid double double threat every night when he's healthy, hustles, plays D, and all that. He's young too. And although Dampier is a beast, he's hardly an offensive force. He's also had injury problems throughout his career, is a terrible free throw shooter, and is -- not unlike our good friend Stromile -- lazy on the court at times. Dampier is a low post scorer, and a low post defender, with extremely limited skills. He can't shoot. He's not fast. Worst of all, he turns the ball over much too much. I wouldn't see the point of getting rid of Gasol for either, or both of them. Outlaw either. The way I see, the Grizzlies are a team on the way up. Gasol is young. Yeah, he plays like he's got a vagina sometimes, but he's still much better than either Dampier or Murphy, or anyone else Golden State would possibly give us. Why would they give up their best player (by far, regardless of whether you like him or not), when you're an up and coming team with no real expectations of winning anything big for at least a few years. Especially when Gasol is only 23 years old. Dampier is 30. The Grizzlies are among the youngest teams in the league, and trading for Dampier would be a short term thing. They're not going to win a championship this year, or next year, which makes adding a solid, role-playing veteran and losing young talent pretty stupid. At least if you ask me.
