However, the NFL is allowing the Cardinals to continue to do so the rest of the season. I understand that the police-section of the NFL has to draw the line somewhere and can't have all kinds of personal messages (read: He Hate Me) on their uniforms. However, is this too thin of a line to say the NFL ex-teammates can and the college ex-teammates can't? Should the league allow each team one common message for each team, to be approved by the league first? If the 49ers agree that this will be their one and only message, what would that hurt? I'm not picking on the league because there are certainly plenty of people besides Tillman that are probably worthy, but what are your thoughts?
he should definitely be allowed to do it, and so should the rest of they league. he gave up what he loved so so many others didnt have to.
He should be able to do it. The decal looks nice, doesn't stick out too much and really, "who cares?" Then again, we are dealing with a league that fines people $5000 for not having your shirt tucked in. So there you go...
This is the same league that refused to let Peyton Manning where hightop cleats to honor Johnny....wouldnt let backs change thier numbers to 34 for a week to honor Walter Payton....its a joke if they dont let them where that decal....the whole league should where it for the whole season, right next to the flag on the helmets....
yea, getting paid that much money, id definitely take the fine, unless of course as you said, im getting paid league minimum
I understand why the league controls what the players wear and such (trust me, get all the lawyers of the players, teams, league and their sponsors together and you will see just how complicated wearing decals can be). I also understand how an issue such as Pat Tillman's death can spiral. Take for example 9/11. I was working at a web hosting company at the time. One of my clients asked if he could use a webserver free of charge so he could put up a tribute and donation site for the victims of 9/11. We obliged, but soon found everyone asking for a free webserver for the same cause. Obviously this is different, but you do need to draw the line somewhere. Trust me, there is some sponsor out there who would be tempted to give their players a Pat Tillman memorial piece that would also advertise their business. The NFL has an obligation to draw the line at some point. That being said, if there are enough players who want to honor Tillman, I do think that the NFL should allow a pre-approved memorial such as the sticker on the helmet for any player to wear.
the leauge has rules, next thing u know players will wear advertisments, it was a nice tribute last week, but lets move on, pat woldnt want it anyway the flag symbolizes pat and every1 else fighting, why single 1 man out?
if u ask me he was dumb for leaving the NFL and now he's dead for it..... i appreciate it but in the long run we all know he shouldve stayed and not gotten killed i know thats insensitive and politiclly incorrect but thats the way i feel about it
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Giantsfan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>if u ask me he was dumb for leaving the NFL and now he's dead for it.....</div> dude, how is he dumb for leaving the NFL to try and protect our freedom, whyo knows, maybe if people just decided not to give up what they were doing to fight for the country, we wouldnt be playing football right now. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Giantsfan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>i appreciate it but in the long run we all know he shouldve stayed and not gotten killed</div> your key words there are Long Run and WE... this is the long run(form back then), and back then we didnt know he was gonna get killed. im sure that even if he somehow knew he was gonna die, he wouldve done it just because he felt itd be right
