<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">These last few weeks have been particularly unsettling, perhaps even without any basis in fact. But there it is: The buzz inside Arco about a potential Christie trade by the Feb. 19 deadline has become so persistent that the community's inseparable couple, initially dismissive of the possibility of leaving Sacramento, suspect that Kings officials are in the process of crafting a divorce agreement.</div> Link
I really like Christie, for someone who's quite the veteran, he continues to perform well. He can shoot as well as Wallyworld, they seem to be on the same level but unlike him, he has some power, size and defense. For someone quite slow and not as impacting as before, he is performing a lot better then some people might expect. I respect his effort and his hustle. He seems to have a lot of it still in him. He may not be great all the time, but he's been providing well, I don't see why you'd rid yourselves of him. Then again there are lots of players who play his position better then he does, so I was expecting this to occur sometime soon. Divac will be benched, Miller will play Center and Webber will have his old position back. If they get someone "young" and good, I foresee a bit of change in the Kings. Both good and bad.
Maybe this is a good move for Sacramento. Probably Bobby Jackson can replace him. To me, he should be the one that starts anyway.
I can't see the Sac Queens letting Christie go. He is a terrific defensive player, he's not doing as well as he did the past two years but he is still talented.
I like this trade for two reasons. It makes the Kings a much weaker team defensively, especially when C-Webb returns. Secondly, it gives Gerald Wallace more playing time. I'm not sure why the Kings are even considering trading Christie, the team is playing great without their best player, I wonder who are what they're hoping to get in return.
Bobby Jackson shouldn't be a starter. There's a thread on it, too, so go there. Anyway, Christie isn't offering much this season in terms of offense, but he's still rallying the defense, providing a good presence on the opposite end of the floor. Unless they're hoping to get a Burce Bowen or Ron Artest in return, they better not trade him.
Christie is the only player on the Kings rosters who knows to dish the ball when the others are having a three-point shootout. He gives the Kings a reliable defender and a veteran's savvy. I think the Kings'd be stupid to trade him and even though Bobby Jackson deserves to start, he'd give the Kings a very undersized backcourt.
Like someone said earlier, if the Kings lose Christie, they will be very similar to the Mavs. Christie is their backbone for defense, and he goes up against all the powerhouse SG in this league. He's made some huge impact in games guarding guys like Kobe and T-Mac, and if they lose him it will come back to haunt them come playoff time. The combo of Bobby and Mike gives up way too much size, and there will be almost no defense on that guard spot. A team like the Lakers, who are their rivals, would torch Sacramento with those two starting. Kobe and Gary can both play defense, whereas Mike and Bobby are not very strong on that side of the court, and will be giving up A LOT of size. They will also have a much thinner bench, because whoever they trade Doug for will not replace what Jackson bring off the bench. It would be a bad move to trade Christie.
I hate that Christie finger up everytime he thinks he's on camera but he provides some vital D and unselfishness to that team. He also knows how to score and can provide it when needed. Unless the Kings get Artest, Ginobili or someone similar I cannot fathom why they would do it. Bobby Jackson is best coming off the bench as instant offense. Are you really thinking that Gerald Wallace is an adequate replacement? Get real.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CANT STOP ME:</div><div class="quote_post">nobody said anything about wallace everyone knows jackson would take his spot.</div> I'd actually rather see Wallace start in place of him more than Jackson if Doug got traded. Bobby is great off the bench, and I would keep it that way. Jackson starting also brings in a lot of trouble on the defensive end, because he and Bibby will be giving up way too much size. Atleast if you had Gerald playing, players wouldn't have a six inch advantage over you, and I still think that guy has a lot of potential.
It would be stupid IMO if the Kings traded Christie ...He is an important part of the team , and he plays his role to perfection .... All Championship teams have role players who are good at what they do ....We need his veteren leadership AND most importantly his defence ...He guards superstars every game ..... The only way i can see this happening is if we are getting a stud in return OR is Wallace was starting to shut down players also ...ANd he doesn't get on the court enough to have proved that yet .... All in all , this whole topic confuses me ...Christie is a crucial part of this team IF the Kings want to win a Championship ....IMO Go Kings~
Like TB76 said before, they would become like the Mavs, much Offense, little defense... Altough they would be a bit better ... But still, he's their best defensive player, and trade him would be crazy... Like baralufficus said, if they want a championship they need to keep Doug...
Trading Christie is unnecessary. The Kings aren't in need of any changes. I don't know who they hope to get in exchange for him. Before they do anything, they should wait until C Webb comes back and see how the team operates after that and then see what needs to be done.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TMac_OwNz:</div><div class="quote_post">Declerq , Giricek , Juwan Howard , Reece Gaines for Cristie and Brad Miller you guys like that?</div> Whoa what a trade, that'd certainly boost the Magic but man the Kings would be in some major trouble. Miller? That's what you need but as if they'd give him away. Christie is good, he has chemistry with the team, he can shoot, he's just got age on his side, but look Divac's playing well. I say we keep him.
The Kings need Christie, he is one hell of a defender and will be needed to win a championship 4 the kings. Kings are going 2 be the champions this year, unless of course bulls make it 2 the playoffs...
