I heard on NBA Fastbreak today that the analysts said that Philly should make a move with Iverson. They added that Iverson is all that Philly has(even tho its a lot :biggrin2 , plus when injuries get more serious and he gets older, they questioned his value. What do you guys think of this?
i think AI belongs in philadelphia. i cant imagine him anywhere else.. and i cant imagine anyone else taking his spot either.
hell no, Nothing in the world should let AI leaving Phila, he belongs to phila, even he said he;s a sixers and will finish his career as a sixer. No one in the NBA can replace his spot. People in PHila love him.
First of all, if you were to trade Iverson, who the hell would you get in return? No one can match the player that he is. Maybe Kobe, but no one. So Iverson isn't going anywhere. Plus, if Iverson left, no tickets would be sold and I highly doubt that that is something that they want to risk.
Sixers won't trade AI cause the team is boult around him, they started it by drafting him and why to throw all that work away?
Trading a franchise and a workhorse, that is just wrong and I'm sorry to say, just plain stupid. He does so much for your team, look at your roster, you have virtually nobody. Trading your hardest worker, someone who plays for you injured just to help you in every way he can. Dalembert and Snow can't take it alone. And geez don't get me started on Big Dog and DC.
I was also watching Fastbreak, and I heard what they were saying. As of right now, trading AI would be COMPLETLY STUPID, not not even stupid but retarted. You can probably trade him in another 4 years as thats when I expect him to loose that step or two. But trading AI would be completly wrong. In matter of fact, AI speaks about those rumors and what not, and about Randy Ayers getting fired etc... http://www.nba.com/media/sixers/iverson_040210.mp3 Allen Iverson Interview. ^^^^ Its pretty interesting IMO.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i honestly cant see it happening netime soon</div> It wont. Its like 1000 to 1 chance that AI would be traded.
Seriously though, not saying AI should be traded, but where will Philly stand when Iverson starts to get older, and injuries become more serious? He's a warrior and the heart and soul of this team, but he's a small dude, he can't take the pounding forever.
What would this accomplish? It's like taking away McGrady from Orlando. Losing your star player, lowered attendance, future firing of the GM, a great way to start the new future for Philadelphia. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting choppa22:</div><div class="quote_post">i wouldnt be a sixers fan if they traded AI</div> So you're not a fan now. The Sixers organization is a team, Allen is one part of it, though he may be a huge part, he is a part. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting choppa22:</div><div class="quote_post">that would be the worst thing for philly to do they need to build around Iverson</div> Are you serious, it's kind of what they've been doing for the last 8 years.
what I am tryin to say is they arent doin a good job of buildin around him,I love the sixers organazation but I just would be crushed if they traded Iverson it would make me sick I wouldnt be able to watch philly any more lol
Like I said, if Iverson was to leave, do you think anyone would go to watch their games? I mean, I know I would still go since I'm a bball fan but some of the people that go just to see AI (and believe me, there's alot of them), but what about those people?
If I was a philly fan, I'd honestly be disgusted to ever watch a Sixer game in my life, because I know how much not only 76er fans love Iverson but the city of Philidelphia, and what he means to them from a fans stand point, I can't blame you guys. But at the end of the day, this is a business before AI was even thought of. Business comes first, so if it's something that helps them as a franchise, I'd have to accept it if I was a true fan.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I highly doubt that Iverson will be traded...probably just more rumors as usual.</div> Thats a PURE rumor. But there's also been ANOTHER rumor of trading Kobe next season for AI. There are basically 2 players that can be equally traded for AI and thats TMac and Kobe. And I think Kobe wouldnt mind playing in Philly. First he went to High School there. He has alot of history in Philly. He would be the only one on that team, just so he can prove he can win games and lead a team, because he's been in Shaq shadow for the longest. Plus, he on the East so you know, he would have a chance of making the playoff's. Secondly AI would love a ring, and he also needs a big man, thats what he always need. Look what happen when he was with Mutumbo. Plus, we all know that Shaq LOVES AI. I personally wouldnt like AI, on the Lakers. But I want AI to get a ring. And going on the Lakers would be the only way. I dont but I just wouldnt feel right, seeing AI in a different uni. But then a again a NBA Championchip ring could be wating for him in LA.. What do you guys think?
^ I don't think AI would do good in L.A.I don't think he would like it himself because he wouldn't have to play as hard for the ring...I mean look at how many other stars the Lakers have and addin AI wouldn't make it any better.
