<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BOSTON -- Vin Baker is expected to miss his 10th consecutive game Thursday night, a mark that could allow the Boston Celtics to terminate a contract that was to pay him $35 million more over the next 2? years.

Baker missed two months and the playoffs last season after he checked into a rehab center to treat alcoholism. He agreed at the time to follow an aftercare program this season and submit to frequent testing.

But Baker failed to comply with the terms of the agreement at least three times, and was suspended indefinitely on Jan. 23. The team has not disclosed the nature of the violations, which could include a positive test or refusal to take a test.

Only the doctor overseeing Baker's care, approved by the team and player, can determine if he's ready to return. But the agreement said that if Baker wasn't back within 10 games, the Celtics have the right to terminate his contract.

"We continue to wish him the best, but other than that we're not commenting," Celtics spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said Wednesday from Chicago, where the Celtics were preparing to play the Bulls.</div>

That would clear a lot of cap space.

I would can that fool. The only dilemma is that they aren't going to be able to pick up another big man of the same caliber.

Sad to say, if a player does not do his job, he should be cut.

Well thats not really true, at the end of the year, there will be plenty of guys for the Celtics to pick up, e.g Kenyon Martin, Rasheed Wallace. Thoughs are just a couple of guys who would fill in Baker's spot nicely, I definitly would not mind.

Come on now, Kenyon Martin is not going to leave the Nets and go to the Celtics. [IMG]

Rasheed loves the east so he might go there, but I think that he will end up in the big apple.

Hey man, money talks. And regarding Wallace, that would be awesome if he came to the big apple, but I would like it better if he went to the Celtics of course

They should terminate it, he hasn't followed the guidlines they set for him at the beginning of the season. Hopefully they can sign a decent PF/C. I don't want Sheed in Boston, but KMart wouldn't be bad

They should keep him since they were foolish to get him in the first place. People don't change. And they must not have watched any video of him on the sonics. Sure he played better this year, but why would you pick up Vin Baker. If you don't keep him he will sign with another team and ruin their year too. Just force him out of the league by keeping him so when he doesn't clean up, he doesn't get another chance.
