<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It was no coincidence the Knicks president joined the team on this trip, as he is aware that last night's opponent is always a willing trade partner. There has been some speculation regarding Knicks interest in Antoine Walker, which is not so far-fetched. The trick might be to convince the Mavericks that Kurt Thomas would give them the toughness they often lack, and that Shandon Anderson would provide them with an effective perimeter defender and lane-filler on the break.</div> Link
This trade really doesnt benefit either team. Walker is probably the Mavs best all around player. He takes the some pressure off Steve Nash to create for everyone. Walker is their 2nd point guard on the floor. Travis Best & Tony delk cant create easy opportunity for the Mavs scorers like walker can. So why would they trade him. Inorder for the Mavs to get out of the West, they will have to go thru either Duncan, Shaq or KG. And Kurt Thomas cant really do anything to prevent those players from dominating a playoff series. So trading for him mght be kind of useless. And Anderson is a good defender but they already have a perimeter stopper in Josh Howard & he is a better all around player than Anderson. And for the Knicks its bad because Kurt Thomas can really have an impact in the east come playoff time. The best power forwards/centers in the east come playoff time will be J. Oneal, K-mart & Ben Wallace. Well imo Kurt thomas can compete & have success against any of those cats. With all the guards in the east who can play at such a high level, it might come down to which teams inside players contribute the best come playoff time.
Noooooooooo. For whatever few extra points Walker gives you on the offensive end, that Kurt Thomas doesn't, he more than loses them on the defensive end whereas Kurt is someone who can defend well. I wouldn't make this trade. Walker is overrated.
I dont think Walker....Marbury....Houston....and KVH would mesh will...that looks like it could turn into a porblem!
Yeah, Knicks would have the same problem as the Mavs, Much offense but Virtually no D except for Marbury...
I would rather have Thomas and Anderson instead of Walker if I was NY, simply because Walker needs the ball to be effective. And with 20-point scorers in Houston, Marbury and Van Horn, it is only common sense that Walker would see his productivity dwindle...
I don't care to much for Kurt Thomas or Walker but he gets the job done. So I dont think trading the two would have a point.
