ok, I have a topic... Who actually believed Sammy Sosa when he said he "accidentally" took a corked bat up to the plate?
Sammy is a good player don't get me wrong, but i think he knew the bat was corked. why would he even have a corked bat in the first place, and if he did have one it should have been marked so he didn't accidentally use it.
well I do,look at the evidence. All of his bats that they checked none of em were corked...and it was a high number of bats. He said he grabbed one he used in batting practice and homerun competitions. If he had been a true user of corked bats they woulda found more than just that one.
I think that both sides have a point. I think that he did mean too, he was just coming off injury and couldn't hit, and it was unfortunate that this will be the way we remeber him. I think he did use roids though, no one gets that big that quick naturally.
On the Sammy issue, he never should have had a corked bat in the rack, let alone the ballpark! I don't care if he just used it for bp, he's just askin for trouble. The Red Sox had better win it all this year. The Yankees are lookin kinda rough right now, losing Roger, Petitte, Wells, and Zim just to name a few. Schilling should be just what they need to complement Pedro.
I remember watching Sammy a few years ago in the Home Run Derby in Milwaukee, blasting 500 foot shots all over the stadium, I was unbelievably impressed. Now, I think back and it sort of makes me mad that he wasn't legit, even if it was only for contests and BP. I doubt Big Mac ever used a corked thunderstick.

Losin' Pettite and Rocket will...but they signed Kevin Brown and Gary Sheffield so far.....look our for more from the Yanks.
Sammy knew exactly what he was doing. Hitters know what bat they are using. Its a shame that hitters these days are bulking up on steroids and tarnishing some of the records that great players in the past put up legitimately. Boston fans annoy me so if they never win a WS in my lifetime, it wouldn't bother me a bit.

No wonder while Big Mac got out when he did too. You are a professional, you know exactly what you are doing. His excuse was terrible, saying he used that bat for batting practice to "wow" the fans with long homers. Well did he not already hit long homers at home? I believe he just took a chance, had it been his first or not it does not matter, fact is, he knew what he was doing. And all you need is one corked bat, that way if you get busted, you can make a cheap excuse like he did. So he is smart. The people that say they agree with Sammy are just saying that they agree that he is a bonehead.
Just got a call from my boy Peter G. from ESPN, looks like the Yankees are getting A-Rod from Texas for Soriano and a minor leaguer. They're baaaaaaaack!
^ Being a die hard red sox fan i would rather not talk about this. i hate to say it but the yanks infield is insane.
