Looking ahead to after the all star break, we have 30 games (16 home, 14 away). How many will we win? I wonder if we can win more than 17.

Games I think we are going to win are in bold.

That makes our record 21-9. That's not that bad at all.

I agree twolvefan11 exept for sacramento. They are a good team and i don't know if the wolves will beat them twice.

They are a good team, but we match up with them evenly, but I think we have a better lineup and a more difficult one to matchup against. Peja is playing great ball right now, but I think Hassell does a great job guarding him. That's the key to winning those games.

I would be satisfied with about a 23-7 run that would keep us in the running for 1st overall, I think that the fact that our soon to be bench players but currently starters and sixth men will help the transition of Wally Kandi and Thud coming back will allow for this record to be obtained.

Only 17? I would not be satisfied with anything less than 20 wins... AT LEAST.

I say they finish 22-8 the next 30 games, they'll pull a few off against the tough teams, they've got 8 games total against Detroit, Sacramento, LA Lakers, and San Antonio, they've got a good chance of winning 3-6 of those 8. The rest are fairly easy to predict. The wolves should finish the season strong.

i dont see why not? dont be surprised if they win more. when wally/kandi man and hudson all come back, its going to make the team that much more deep and deadly. from the games iv seen, hassell has been giving the wolves some decent minutes, so bringing him off the bench with the mayor and troy, plus their big's ervin and trent...thats a decent bench.

I believe that the Timberwolves will be able to have a great stretch of games overall and win 21-23 games. The most interesting and critical games to see how good the Timberwolves are will be the away games at Detroit, Sacramento, and San Antonio. 1-2 would be the minimum record wanted and 2-1 would be ideal.

A surprise: yes. Surprise of the year: no. I would have to give that to either the Nuggets or the Bucks.

Yeah, I expected the Timberwolves to do very well this year too. My suprises of the year go to Nuggets, Bucks, and Jazz.

Perhaps I am a bit of a pessimist, but I see several things that trouble me given the upcoming schedule that suggest to me that 20 of the last 30 is the best we can expect (although we might hope for more). I agree with Coolhand that 16 seems to be the floor. If they win 18, they finish with 55 wins which might mean a #3 seed and first round match with the Rockets (at least that is what I would expect).

Here is what I struggle with

    1) Teams are really starting to gun at the Wolves and even the easy games get that much harder

    2) The big time teams (Mavs, Kings, Lakers, Spurs) will pick up their intensity even more as their seeding becomes more important and pressing (and they get healthy)

    3) Some of these 2nd tier teams (Griz, Nuggets, Sonics, Nets) are going to start getting more consistent now that they have more experience together and are more stable.

    4) The wolves might have some disruptions in play when Wally and Kandi come back (I am not concerned with the MV3, but more with the roll players - how will Erv, Big O, GT, Hassell and Hoiberg adjust their games with fewer minutes).

    5) The wolves don't seem to have the intensity for the full game - almost like they feel they are unstoppable if only they stay close and play well in the late 3rd and 4th quarter.

    6) Their road schedule is quite tough and they will start to fatigue

The extra time the role players have gotten will help them in the long run... they have gotten a lot of time under their belt learning the Wolves system... I think shorting their minutes will compact their production into smaller time... It should be that much of an issue.
