<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">Shaq should retire a Laker and so should Kobe. End of story.</div> agreed lol ur a 5'11 center?
I would give Shaq, a contract extension, Shaq and Kobe are unstoppable if they play at the level they did couple years back, plus which center are you going to get to stop Shaq if you are you trade shaq?
As a Lakers fan i hope Shaq and Kobe will retire as Lakers. That would ben great. by the way whats wrong with a 5"11 center???
keep shaq. if the lakers dont win the title then instead of rebuilding, get more good players to play around shaq. regardless of whether he is still as good as before, shaq is still the most dominant player in the L.
Yo dogg i agree with you my home boy. The lakers should make sure they keep that dominant force inside.
In sports Illustrated, they said there was a rumored trade:Shaq Oneal for Jermaine Oneal.... Would u guys really do that? Personally, I would in a second...the Pacers would be stupid to make that deal IMO...unless they have a sense of urgency to win the title..
Well as the season winds down and the drama increases, it looks more and more likely that they'll try and shop Shaq around. Buss has already made it pretty clear that Kobe is his guy. Plus, the Shaq/Kobe rift is not getting any better, so if the Lakers don't win it all Kobe is likely to say "Him or Me." In that case Buss will take Kobe and trade Shaq. Will they get fair market value? Hell no. Will they lose their dominance in the paint? Hell yes, will it make for a better Laker team? Only time will tell. But this all really hinges on the 4 title in 5 years. If they win it all, it may soften everyone's hard feelings, allowing for some more relaxed contract negotiations. If they lose. Well...It'll be a different Laker team next year. On a side note, Buss also likes Karl. That could bring about the second coming of Stockton & Malone. Anyway, those are just my oddball thoughts.

Shaq is in the dying stages of his career, if we could get JO and keep Kobe, that would be a nice duo.
You are a crazy man. There is NO WAY San Antonio would trade their star for Shaq. And why would the Lakers trade their center (the most dominant in the league) for a forward. Duncan is good, but he doesn't fit with the Lakers.
Trading Shaq is retarded. No one can replace him, other than players like Lebron or Tim, which will obviously never happen. Shaq will always be valuable untill he retires, whether if it's 35 or 40. Look at Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson and other post-prime centers. They couldn't ball to save their life when they were in their mid 30's and older. Shaq's post skills and durability can be diminished, but his impact and his overpowering strength would still make a team a legit championship contender, unlike the following mentioned above.
I' not a big fanof the Diesel but he guy id the physically most dominant center of all times and he just keeps playing better I mean besides each team (incl. Kings) need more than one (T-Wolves made that clear) big man to guard him and there is not even talk about stopping him, center position is a tough one and having Shaq in the team and traing him would be just about the most stupid thing in the Lakers' history, but what Lakers could actually do is to get naother big man (and don't tell me about Malone) to back him up that would be great...

in order for Shaq for JO to happen Indiana would basically hafta fully committ to scraping the JO / Ron Artest days and committ to building around Harrington and Bender because of the contract situations, they would have to send at least 2 more high priced players with JO to LA for Shaq, one of them most likely being Austin Croshere because the Pacers would love to unload his bad contract but in order to do that they'll also hafta include Harrington or Artest in order to entice the lakers to take on crosheres long term deal. Dealing both JO and Artest would give the Pacers a lot of nice cap flexibility in 2 years when Shaq's deal is up and returning a team of Tinsley, Miller, Harrington, Bender, Shaq, Jones etc. isnt exactly bad so I could see something like that happening...might be a long shot but the Lakers have pulled some ridiculous stuff off in the past so we'll see... but definitely the answer is to trade Shaq and build around Kobe...Shaq's salary and salary demands are what keep the Lakers from being able to sign the necessary role players they need to win championships so you can say all you want about how Kobe might be a ball hog but Shaq is the one who damages the team with his ridiculous contract extension demands...i said all this before in the lakers skybox before but i'll say it again...KG should be respected for taking his 13 million dollar paycut in order to help the future of the franchise...theres a lot more to being a team player than what you do on the court...he might be the most dominant player in the game but when you consider the fact that he gets paid as much as Tim Duncan, Tracy Mcgrady, and Steve Nash combined...how much is that dominance really worth? (true all the rest of those contracts were negotiated under the current collective bargaining agreement but KG was eligible for hte same type of extension shaq is askin for)...
those of you who say trading Shaq is stupid don't fully understand the impact of salary cap room on building championship teams...the lakers have no flexibility to make the necessary moves right now...i wont dispute that shaq is the most dominant player in the game...all im saying is for the lakers as a franchise, they wont see another championship unless there is some miracle and kareem rush becomes kobe bryant over night and they have two of the most unstoppable swing men around while shaq is still on the books at 30 mill a year...if you clear him out now they have a shot to retool a team built around kobe that is built to win for years to come...with shaq you're always looking at a playoff team, but no more championships for them...
Apparentley Shaq has asked to be traded, I dont think its 100% confirmed yet though, read it on yahoo! sports.
I think Shaq was blowing out steam yesterday. He shouldn't always go to the media and air out his dirty laundry, so unprofessional. I personally don't think that an out of shape, and injury proned Shaq is worth the MAX - $35 million a year. Lakers were offering him a good $26 mill, that's still $6 mill more a year than what the Lakers can offer for Kobe. What the hell is Shaq's problem? He keeps saying he isn't gonna take a paycut, but he's not producing any championships right now, in fact comes in out of shape all the time. Shaq needs to swallow his damn pride and his big mouth and stay with the Lakers.
