Yao's multiyear sponsorship deal was announced Thursday at a McDonald's outlet inside the Los Angeles Convention Center. Yao is in town to play in Sunday's NBA All-Star game. Bryant's three-year deal with the fast-food company expired Dec. 31. The Los Angeles Lakers guard has lost other sponsors since being charged with sexual assault. </div>

i'm not surprised. i know that kobe already expected this and doesn't care anymore. all he needs to worry about is his case against his accuser.

once he is proven innocent and goes to a new team considering he probably won't sign with the Lakers next year, he will drop 35 a game and get more sponsors

Except for the fact that they will only have Gary til the end of next season, as well as Karl. They also won't have any money to bring in any good players next year either, not counting rookies ofcourse. I don't get how these cap things work, but they can offer Kobe a lot of money to resign an expired contract and not have any cap room left.

Im not surprised with this at all. Yao Ming is a world wide celebrity and him having an influence in China as well as America only makes him that much more valuable. McDonald's has a major presence in China so the decision to drop Kobe for Yao was a smart move in my opinion.

Yao as spokesperson? I guess McDonald's is going global. However, if they can drop Kobe for rape, why not drop Justin Timberlake? [IMG]
