Where do you see Bell and Jones in the Grizzlies' future plans? At the All-Star break Jones is averaging 8.2 mpg, 2.3 ppg, and 1.1 rpg in 14 games. His career high in points is seven. Right now Bell is averaging 3.5 mpg, 2.5 ppg, and 1.0 rpg in only two games. Bell has supposidely been "injured", but I'm inclined to think he's A-Ok and just benching because of Watson's success. If Watson leaves through Free Agency or a trade, do you think Bell could step up and take on the roll of backup point guard? I've got faith in him, but the ten man rotation could be overwhelming for him. Jones on the other hand won't see much playing time until West makes a trade. There's no way he'll start over Posey, Wells, Miller, or Battier. However, he's been getting some scrap minutes lately. I think he could be a good player some day, just not in the next few years.
Many say Dahntay was picked too high. I haven't seen much of him but Troy Bell looked promising in college. if these two can't make it in Memphis, maybe they'll go somewhere else.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting franchise3:</div><div class="quote_post">Many say Dahntay was picked too high</div> I learned never to question Jerry West again after the Mike Miller trade came to it's fruition. His moves may seem crazy, but 95% of them work. Dahntay Jones just won't succeed as a Grizzlies, but he's probably the most athletic rookie outside of Troy Bell. He could do well on a team like the Wizards.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting franchise3:</div><div class="quote_post">Say the Wizards put up an offer for him. His career high in scoring is seven, and he hasn't even played twenty games. As long as we could get someone with potential for him, I'd be satisfied.
I really like Bell, I think he could become an Earl Boykins like guard in the future. A big spark plug off the bench. The type of player who doesn't start games but finishes them. He's a great FT shooter, who if given the chance will be able to run the offense. I could see him becoming a 6th man like Bobby Jackson as well. On Jones, I never saw much of him in college, but from what I did see, he could turn out to become a Richard Jefferson type. If he works on his perimeter game, and he gets the chance to play he could become a great wingman working with Jason Williams and Bonzi Wells.
The problem is that the Grizzlies are currently too talented to give these two playing time. I think it'll be better if they were traded for future picks.
Didn't Bell lead the Chicago Pre-Draft camp in scoring? And from what i hear he sounds good. He deserves more time. I don't watch many college games, but i've seen Dahntay Jones play, and he is a very good defender and a good athlete. He didn't do too bad in preseason i don't think, i think he should get more time, too.
Dahntay Jones can defend, rebound, and run/jump, but unfortunately, he can't do much more at an NBA level. He can dunk too. Boy, can he dunk. Strikes me as the Carlos Boozer breed of Dookie. Works hard, hustles, all that good stuff. Can't shoot to save his life, though. I think he'd be good to keep around, because, yeah, the Grizz are stacked with swingmen, but he's a young athletic player who hustles and defends, ie. the type of player that fits our system, and that Hubie Brown loves. If you have to get rid of one of them, I'd rather get rid of Mike Miller (who I have a long standing hatred for), because not only is he overrated, but he'd have more trade value, and I hate him. Honestly, you're getting nothing for Jones. The guy makes a rookie wage, and has played 115 minutes on his career. Meaning he will net you absolutely nil when/if you get rid of him. Bell, on the other hand, I've never seen play. I won't touch that.
