the florida new today is reporting the Magic has contacted the Jazz about a trade with Carlos Arroyo or Jarron Collins for Gordan Giricek. Whats everyone idea about this? Gordan for Carlos, no, but I would trade Collins for Giricek. Gordan would give a shooter and we could play him at the three and move AK back to the 4 with a line up of: pg: arroyo SG: D-steve SF: Giricek PF: AK47 C: Tag But I would rather have someone beside Gordan Giricek. here is the link to the article http://www.floridatoday.com/!NEWSROOM/spor...3MAGICFIRST.htm
I'd do the trade Jarron Collins for GG anyday. Jarron has been playing well lately, but the trade is easily worth it. But we would be losing a pure PF, which is what we need more of not less of. I don't know why Orlando would take on Collins, they've already got Gooden and Howard at PF. I wouldn't do the Arroyo deal, not now anyway. He'll continue to develop, as will Lopez. When Arroyo or Lopez is at their peak, then trade either one while their value is high.

Jarron used to play center with the Jazz his rookie season, and in the East, there's no doubt he'll play center for the Magic. GG would be a great replacement for Harpring.
I don't understand why Orlando would want to do the deal if the player involved is Collins. Right now the Magic have pretty much come to terms with the fact that their chances of making the playoffs are over. Why wouldn't they want Gordan Giricek? He is a player who could be great in the future. A lot of teams don't have time to wait for above average players to become stars, but Orlando certainly does. Getting a mediocre Center like Collins is the kind of short-term move that teams with playoff chances make. The Magic need a Center, but they could easily wait for Free Agency or the draft rather than giving up Giricek. If the player involved is Arroyo, then I don't understand why either team would do it. Good point guards are hard to come by, and I can't see why Utah would do this. Michael Ruffin is playing great, and Arroyo is the team's leading scorer and disher every other night. Why do they need Giricek? He'd be a shooter, but don't the Jazz have one of the best shooting teams in the league as is? He'd make it possible for Kirilenko to move back to the post, but as I said earlier, Ruffin is doing great. Also, the Magic don't exactly need Arroyo. That'd be a short-term move as well. They've got Tyronne Lue and Reece Gaines, both young point guards with great potential.
Giricek may be a sophomore, but he is already 28, in his prime. When you are in your prime and averaging 10 points, it doesn't mean you are material for the future. The Jazz need him for this season I think. However, the Jazz would be acting real stupid. Why would they want to trade away Collins when your team has Greg Ostertag starting at center?
The Jazz have always said that they wouldn't be doing trading for a short term benefit. They'd only be trading for long term benefit. Jarron will get better, and will probably be starting at Center if he can bulk up a bit in a few years. Greg Ostertag wont be around for that much longer. If they traded for GG, they'd get another shooter but he will take away minutes from Harpring and Kirilenko. He wont help Deshawn either. If the Jazz are going to make a trade with Orlando, it'd be for wither Gooden or Howard. Gooden would be the one they want more.
I like arroyo in Orlando but I dont want collins..we have 3 centers right now..(declerq zaza and hunter) and the one that sux is starting..anyways we might get a really good center in this draft..and collins well I dont know if he is a free agent next season..I dont think so..I know GG is..

I would imagine that both will be resigned, they'd have no reason to go elsewhere unless Arroyo thought Lopez would be getting the starting spot next season.
