<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The pressure is on. That's why Grizzlies coach Hubie Brown scheduled a practice Thursday when the players thought they could leave for All-Star break. That's why the team will work out Monday night. The pressure is on. That's why Brown reminded his team of their first game following last season's All-Star Weekend. The Grizzlies weren't in the playoff hunt. But New Jersey was near the top of the Eastern Conference. "They didn't even practice," Brown said of the Nets. "If you remember, we embarrassed them, and it was a bad turnaround for them. They got into a funk for awhile. No matter how good you are, you have to stay ready and not lose focus." </div> Link Hubie wants to win ball games very badly. I've never heard of manditory practices during the All-Star break. Maybe this is why Jason Williams didn't enter the skills competition.
Hubie is a good coach and I'm sure he knows what he's messing with. This can incite a few problems among the players. However, Hubie is a respected figure among the team and his decision for practice will keep the team ready and good to give opponents a scare after the break.
I think it's good. The Grizzlies are all a dedicated, hard working bunch. We didn't have any major injuries, but it's still a chance to lick your wounds a bit, and get in some R and R, and at the same time work on your games. I'm sure none of them are too pissed about it.
Nice avatar Ezra, I hate it when people do it wrong! Hey, whatsup, I'm from the cavs forum, first time postin over here, just saw there were people here. I'm a closet Grizz fan, Gasol and Battier are my favorite players on your team. I hope you guys upset a few teams come playoff time, but it will be tough. If you were in the east you'd make it to the Finals. Wow, practice during an All Star Break? Now that's commitment, that's what separates the champs from the chumps. I hope nobody on your team gets mad about it, it could be the difference between home court advantage come playoff time if you guys come out the break firing on all cylinders. Catch someone sleepin.
That's real great. This is a big advantage for a team to do. Although well earned rest for such hard workers is always in order, big improvements can be made during the game. For example Duncan when he wasn't participating could work on his free throws. I think this a good chance for them to really upbeat their roster. Jason Williams becoming less fancy, Pau Gasol becoming more of a big man and dominate on the inside and teaching Miller to take the shots he can easily make and not be afraid to shoot the ball. Great news, thanks for sharing Wave.
