Los Angeles --- It will only be a matter of time, possibly a few weeks, before the Hawks will finally switch ownership from Time Warner to Atlanta Spirit LLC, NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik said Saturday.

"From the NBA standpoint, the deal is pretty much done," Granik said. "I would expect that in the next week or so, that we will be sending something out to the NBA Board of Governors . . . to approve the ownership transfer.

"We feel pretty comfortable that this deal is going to close very shortly."

Atlanta Spirit LLC, the nine-member ownership group, reached an aggreement with Time Warner to purchase the Hawks, Thrashers and ownership rights to Philips Arena in mid-September.</div>

I didn't even know the Hawks were being sold. I can't say it's surprising, though.

I think it is, who would want to buy them. They're such a terrible team. They probably have so few spectators unless they are facing great teams both home and away.
