Something needs to be done about the home field advantage given when it comes to instant replay. Here is an example: Monday night football. TO just caught a long pass. However, replays show that he didn't actually catch the football. Since the game is being played in Philly, the play is not shown on the big screen where the Vikings coaches can see the replay until after the play is no longer challengeable. However, if Philly even has a questionable spotting of the ball, the replay is shown over and over and over again giving the coaches an easy call as to whether or not they should review the play. This isn't just in Philly either, this is happening all around the league. My problem with this is that the refs should never determine the outcome of the game. They should never even heavily influence a game towards one team. The crowd, weather conditions, and home field do that as it is. Instant replay was introduced to help prevent the refs from blowing calls that would influence a game towards one team. By not giving each team equal access to instant replays, the system just doesn't work.
I don't agree and heres why....it's up to the assistants up in the booth to see these things on National TV since they have full access to that broadcast and they are the ones responsible on the road to be watching for replays.... I mean I don't care if you have to pay an assitant to watch the game up stairs for replays it can be done. The Vikings just blew it....and its sad because I do agree that the officials should not influence a game in anyway but in this case I think it was the Vikings own fault they didn't challenge cus I mean I knew he didn't catch it when it happened I didn't need a replay and anyone at the game sitting upstairs should have seen the bobbles as well.
The monitors went out during those replays, so the people upstairs couldn't see the replay. From the sidelines, Tice had to judge the reaction of his players as to whether or not it was a catch. The only problem is that Winfield was face down during the bobble. I personally thought it was a catch when it first happened. I think most people did. I just don't like the fact that the home team not only has people upstairs relying on national television, but also a huge jumbotron at their disposal. There is a reason televisions are not allowed on the sidelines.
Oh so the upstairs couldn't see the National feed? If thats the case then ya you kinda got screwed but man I was screaming the second he caught it "no catch" cause the ball was breakdancing on his chest while he was sliding out of bounds...I didn't realize the people sitting up stairs couldn't see the replay that was shown right away on MNF.
Yeah, I agree home field has an advantage, but in this case, I think the issue is why did the monitors go off???? I heard that too.

By the time the first replay on ABC was over, the PAT was kicked less that 2 seconds later. Even if the monitors were not out, they still wouldn't have seen it in time.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>If the vikes had played thier game and played well then that calll would have made no difference</div> I have no argument with that, that is very true. But, regardless of how well the Vikings played, that call influenced the game in the Eagle's favor. Even if the Vikings won that game, the 7 points from that touchdown would have forced the Vikings into a different game plan and given the Eagles and unfair leg up. I'm not saying that we have to make sure that the playing field is completely level, I'm just saying that there should be a better rule in place. Al Michael's suggested that a coach be able to challenge up to the kickoff, not the PAT. That seems reasonable to me.
