I posted on the site about teams not turning in lineups. I have yet to update the website because I need to know what the league's feelings are on this. This is going to hurt the league because certain teams are going to benefit while others will not. I don't like giving free wins. I realize that you should be punished for not turning in a lineup, but it's still not fair if one team doesn't turn in their lineup, that the team they play that week gets a free win and everyone else has to earn it. Thoughts?
If you are going to submit best lineup why would anyone turn in a lineup, when they can get best lineup by not turning one in?
What about making the decision easier on the commish? How about the get the same lineup as the week before?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>If you are going to submit best lineup why would anyone turn in a lineup, when they can get best lineup by not turning one in?</div> In a round-about way, I'll take that as a compliment.
Do we want the league to fall apart or stay competitive? That's the real question. Teams that don't submit a lineup will not be asked back next year.
I voted that commish submits the best lineup because we want the league to be competitive. Submitting last week's lineup becomes a problem for bye weeks. However, IMO, I think if a team has a certain number of missed submissions that they should be ineligible for the playoffs. Maybe 5 missed weeks??
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Cowboy71)</div><div class='quotemain'>What about making the decision easier on the commish? If someone doesn't submit their lineup for 3 different weeks, are they really going to be dissappointed about not playing in the playoffs? If there was a way to drop them from the league, I would suggest doing that. That way, their players would become free agents and available for the rest of us who are spending time paying attention to the league. Is it possible to drop a team?

The draft is done, play the teams, and deal with the people that don't play next year. If it's a burden on SF, I'm sure people wouldn't mind doing the lineups. If need be, I'll take over another team just for the sake of competition. However, I'd prefer it be in the other conference so it's not a conflict of interest in case that team is on my schedule.
Regarding whether or not the orphan teams don't make the playoffs, it's not a matter of punishing the original owner, but a matter of not punishing someone that sticks it through. What I mean is, if a lineup is submitted with then there are no gimme games for anyone. However, the orphan team will not be able to bounce someone from the playoffs that followed their team all season. By submitting the lineups, it keeps it fair to those that don't have a game against an orphan...by keeping the orphan teams out of the playoffs, it means the guys that care have the chance to win it all. Besides, losing teams measn reshuffling schedules and other things, and seems like a hell of a lot of work.
I think Matt's thinking is identical to mine. Submit lineups or one will be submitted for you. If you don't submit 3 weeks, you can't make the playoffs.
How about penalizing them some way. I.E. if some one does not submit lineup they take a 5% points penalty(dont know if your software supports) and make this cumulative. 2nd time a 10% penalty then the one or two people who dont play will become non-factors

But how's that fair to the people that are facing off against people that always submit lineups?? If you want to make it a league where there'll be gimme games, then to tell you the truth, I really don't see the point in having a league then, where's the competition?
I see your point, however, since SF is selecting thier lineup they are getting the advantage of his skill. i.e. if he decides between two close players for them they could reap the reward with no effort and beat us, and in essense SF would have two teams or what ever. That is why i want a small penalty on the people who arent submitting. 5% of the top lineup this week(thats mine right now) would be 6 pts not a big penalty for the first time offense and would have no impact but if they just arent going to play they should be phased out and yes someone will get an easy game big deal

I just know that I'd be royally pissed (and assume everyone else would too) if I was in the hunt for the playoffs and the team I was fighting got a forfeit in the last game of the season because of a non submission. There's too much that can screw up a league with no shows. For the most part, people will view players the same and probably would start the same players. Submitting the lineups just ensures no one gets a free ride any week. Then the top teams that submitted lineups get the playoffs. There's just as good a chance of SF picking a dud team as anyone else, and as I've stated, if need be, I'll take one over simply for submissions if need be, and I'm sure there'd be others to do the same, so it wouldn't always be SF doing the picking.
I see what you are saying I would be pissed if - A team with 3 good recievers 1 exceptinal and 2 good ones, and SF picked which good one and he blew up and beat me by a margin of less than the difference between the two good recievers. If the player(who obviously was doing a bad job or would still be submitting lineups) had put it in i might have won. So if it came down to that game and i had to face the lineup SF put in but another player go to face the lineup of a player who sucks and beats me out i would be pissed.

There's no telling who the other guy would've added, so it's only looking at the absolute worst case scenario. There are too many other scenarios that play out if no lineups are submitted. For instance, if 1 guy happens to play the 4 teams that don't submit lineups, he gets 4 wins automatically, regardless of how well his opponents would've played?? That could move a 8-8 team to 12-4 simply because he got the gimmes. I'd take a loss to a team submitted by SF rather than tarnish the league with 4 gimme wins.
