I vote for them carrying over the same starters as the week before, and let the chips fall where they may. If they don't keep up, that's on them.
thats why i said put in an OK lineup... you shouldnt put in a great one because they should be penalized a good player or 2, but ya cant put in a bad one because we needa competitive league

I'm not trying to offend anyone or not take the league's advice here, but I've got to be honest here. Unless you start the teams best players (or reasonably the best) every week, you're really short changing the way the league is supposed to run. If someone doesn't put three lineups in they're done, no playoffs. Penalizing the team that doesn't turn in a lineup hurts 12 or 13 other teams more than putting a reasonable lineup in. Yes it would suck to lose to someone that didn't put a lineup in, but you can't, I repeat can't, allow for someone to get a free win. It completely unbalances a league. This is my 14th year doing Fantasy Football. Trust me on this one.
My suggestion is that once you have submitted a lineup, its automatically your lineup forever until you change it....so if you cant submit for a week, you atleast have something out there, thats how most leagues do it, Yahoo included.....I understand that byes can make that perilous, but its not a free win against a team even if they lose a player to a bye.....I also like the idea of eliminating teams that dont participate from the playoff hunt....another suggestion is to make it an automatic "common sence" lineup until you change it, as in the program will start the player at each position with the most points so far this season unless you tell it not too, so if you have Peyton Manning and Kyle Boller, you will always get Peyton unless you submit Boller.....not sure if the program can even do that....I dont have a problem with owners that arent into micromanagement and just want to submit the same lineups all the time, most leagues are set up so you do it that way....
I agree with whoever you have starting the previous week, just carry the same ones over. If one has a bye then just take the best one available as backup.
The only thing I don't really get is that everyone is more concerned with being beaten by a team that doesn't turn in a lineup and not concerned about the other teams that don't get the free win if a team gets to play a team without a lineup. Why is everyone afraid of competition? Even if a team that doesn't submit wins, they had the better team. You probably don't deserve to win. On top of that, if they don't submit 3 weeks, they're not eligible for the playoffs. So they will be punished. My team has stunk so far, and if I would have played two teams that didn't submit lineups, would it really be fair that I be 2-0 right now? Of course not. So what's the problem?
That's my point too Beef. They would still have the players they deemed the best (minus bye weeks) starting. It would be just as bad to have a 9-10 win managerless team who won't go to the playoffs despite their record. Some weeks, when I want the same starters as the week before, I don't submit a new lineup either. It seems to me that it's good enough for every other FF league to do it that way.
There's a difference between non-submission because you are happy with you lineup and non-submission because you don't care. If half of your team in on a bye week, you're not going to say screw it and not turn a lineup in.
And I can't believe for a minute that anyone that posts here doesn't have the time to email me and say, "I want the same lineup as last week. Thanks."
Hey man, I'm not hating here. I will as always abide by the decisions made by the pack. I honestly appreciate all your work and effort this year. I am just utilizing this forum as a medium for discussion and sharing my views on the matter. I thought thats what it was for. At 0-2, I have to be pretty easy going about it all. You'll get my lineups every week anyway. Peace bro!
Your opinion is always appreciated. Don't get me wrong here. It's just frustrating being in this position.
I think you should set the lineup of the best players the team has, in the order they were drafted and just keep it. If the team is screwed over by Byes and/or Injuries, so be it...the lineup stays the same. If the Coach doesn't care about setting lineups or tracking his/her team, then neither do I.
Listen up. the bottom line is this. people will take advantage of the system of the best lineup by not submitting.... they are ignoring their responsibilities so therefore it thetre fault... SF should not have extra work because some people didnt feel like submitting this week
SF, I like competition and would rather play a team than play nobody but honestly it shouldn't be a big deal and I say do as you wish.
Thank you and thank you. It isn't a big deal ultimately. I think we're all competitive and want to win, I just can't see it at the cost of the league. Things will work out ok.
i still say dont put in the best team, because as i said, they should be penalized a little bit for not putting in a lineup.... even though you have that playoff rule, but it still shouldnt be the best lineup
