This is the year of the point guard. In the 2004 Draft, four point guards could possibly be chosen in the lottery. Shaun Livingston, Ben Gordon, Jameer Nelson and Sebastian Telfair. Who do you guys think is the best prospect potentially and who do you think is the most ready prospect to contribute right away. Also name some teams that could be good fit to these players.

I think that either Ben Gordon or Jameer Nelson are the most ready to contribute right away, given that they're playing well in college right now. I see Gordon as a Wade-type player- a scoring point. However, Livingston and Telfair might have better potential as they're pure point guards.

Well, I really wouldn't label this draft "The year of the point guard." I don't even think the highschool points are going to declare to be honest with you...Nelson and maybe Felton (if he declares) will be the only good "true" point guards....guys like Gordan and Chris Thomas are 2's trapped in a lil body...Also, there are a lot of really good fowards in this draft...

Of all the guys, I like Felton the best...he seems well suited for the NBA...

I agree with notmuchgame, Felton will make the biggest impact. Livingston and Telfair will most likely go to college IMO. Nelson and Gordon will be good too but I think Felton will be the best PG in the draft.

Its about time, I think the league is pretty short on the talent level of PGs recently... Also gotta say the same about the center spot. Not many worth being named after Shaq and Yao.

I actually think that pg is one of the most competitive positions. GP, Kidd, Nash, Francis, Bibby, Starbury, NVE, etc.

And before anyone throws a fit, yes, you can take Francis and Starbury off that list. I could still name more.

In college basketball, this is the year of the PG.

Jameer Nelson, Raymond Felton, Dee Brown, Luis Flores, Blake Stepp, Gerry McNamara, Anthony Roberson, Jarrett Jack, Chris Duhon, Mustafa Shakur, Chris Paul, Devin Harris, Ben Gordon, Andrew Lavender, Antonio Burks, Taquan Dean, Marques Green...I could really keep going on.

Right now, I think out of the guys who are going to the NBA, I would say Ben Gordon would contribute the most. He is a great offensive player. Duhon will be a decent backup, and Jameer Nelson has to learn to play against PGs much bigger than him.

And in the NBA, there are many great PGs.

Brown, Flores, McNamera, Roberson aren't really PG's...They only Brown and Roberson are the only two that I see actually being able to start on the NBA level. McNamera will be a backup PG...Flores could be a Dana Barros type player...

Blake Stepp! He'll probably go in the 2nd or maybe just maybe late 1st round but he is the type of guy that was described in that thread, "Special Players." He is a great decision maker, has tremendous range, and rarely makes mistakes. A true asset to any NBA team.

While were on the subject, will Ben Gordon be better than the UConn great Khalid El-Amin? [IMG]

yeah. just needs to be a bit more decisive. other than that, all the fundamentals are there, and he's not fat, that always helps. he's a better scorer, and better on defense.. now if only he had a championship to back himself up..
