GG to trade Marshall to Sonics!!!

GG has been havin serious talks with the sonics about a trade that would send Brent Barry and Vladimir Radmanovic to the Raptors. The sonics would recieve Donyell Marshall and Morris Peterson. What do u think about this trade???

I think this trade sucks, Barry has a big contract and he isn't what we need. Vlad is not even a centre and hes only 6ft 9in! Why the hell would we do this trade. Marshall our second best player, and hes been doing great for us. Why would we even talk about trading him. GG better not do this!!!!

This doesn't sound good if you ask me. However it wouldn't be all bad. You'd be losing size and boarding ability which your team seems to lack overall so that's always a bad thing.

However you'd get some great offense to compensate for when big men are out, let's just say if Bosh were out again. Also to relieve Jalen Rose when he's playing badly and can't seem to shoot and plays ridiculously like when he was with the Bulls. Otherwise really bad idea, he tries hard and is good for what he does for your team.

So far Marshall is averaging a double double for the raps, there's absolutely no reason to trade him at this point. This trade seems absolutely pointless because it doesn't solve any one of our two biggest problems. We need a true center and a true point guard. We can't rely on an undersized rookie 19 year old to be our starting center any longer.

But the trade wouldn't be bad if we already had a true center. In fact, I'd probably take it in a heartbeat if that was the situation. Barry's an excellent shooter and can be a deadly weapon coming off the bench. Radmanovic is also a good scorer, he's young, and he has a lot of potential. MoPete needs to go because of his inconsistencies and I believe Radmanovic can do a good job filling in for Marshall (probably not AS good though).

If the trade does go through then that would mean GG absolutely gave up on the season. Since Olajuwon is out of our salary cap at the end of the season, GG would probably be thinking of acquiring a center in the off-season.

I proposed a trade like this, but including Curry instead of Peterson.

Raptor fans - take this trade and run with it. Barry is exactly the sort of veteran shooter and playmaker than any team would like in their back court, and his contract runs out at the end of the season which means cap flexibility. As for Marshall, he's a superb player, but he's 30 years old. Radmanovic slots straight in at SF, is only 23 and immediately provides perimeter shooting and guy who can score. Your frontline is now Moiso, Bosh and Radmanovic, and that's a potential 5-10 year frontline in place, and a potent one in the East.

Still a few weeks away, but will help in a playoff push towards the end of the season immensely, not to mention his influence off the court. Take it from a Seattle fan - Radmanovic has a helluva lot of promise, but with Shard around, he's being forced to play PF in the West, somewhere he's not suited to. If he can play SF and a bit of PF in the East, he will really blossom.

If GG does this trade he should get fired. Marshall is one of the best players on the Raps, and look at his stats, how could look trade him. hes an undersized PF that averaging 10 rebouds per game!!!!!!!Why would u trade him?????? This trade would be good if Marshall wasn't in it. What the hell is GG thinking, please someone hit GG in the head before he does this.

I think its a terrible trade for the Raptors, Barry is natural SF that plays PG, but he's not that good at it, What The Raps need is a big man that can rebound, something like Dale Davis, or Theo Ratliff, not a 6'9 player who is more confortable playing outside, they need a defensive presence down low. Also Marshall has been great, way better than i expected. He fits perfectly into this team. And barry would be playing out of position, what i would like to see is a 7 footer that can at least rebound and play D, and a natural SF, and switch carter back to the 2. And Jalen can play the one, because he's good at it, but then again, other point guards in the league are faster and quicker than him, he always has trouble guarding them. I may be wrong about this, just my 2 cents.

I think this deal actually works out well for both teams. I'll explain: from TO's standpoint, yes, giving up Marshall is tough, but Radmon would give the Raps a little more perimeter offense, a cheaper contract and more upside. As for Peterson, he's stuck behind VC, so I don't see the Raptors being able to retain him when his contract expires anyway.

Now, Barry brings veteran stability and versatility to a team that lacks both of these qualities without J-Rose in the lineup. Barry is a smart player, a great shooter, and he can fill spots 1-3. Barry's shooting ability would help spread the defense, providing Carter and Bosh more room to work. In my opinion, the Raptors are making this deal for the purpose of improving VC's game more than anything else. In other words, they're attempting to re-direct him back to the days of his rookie season when driving and slashing to the basket made him one of the hottest commodities in the league. Since his injuries, Vince has obviously been gunshy about going to the rack with anywhere near the same regularity. Radmon also plays away from the hoop and shoots the 18-footer with regularity, which will again force Vince to rely less on his perimeter game, or feel that he has to. How many times have you seen him shoot a fall-away jumper that clangs off the back of the iron? That's not his game, or at least not reliable part of it. Like MJ in his younger days, (pleas excuse the analogy: just a UNC thing), Vince is much better off when he utilizes his inside game. He's still a young player, and has plenty of time to become an outside shooting threat, but for now, he'd be doing himself and the Raps a favor by returning to the high-rising posterizer that he was in his early days in the league. It would be different if he were a 6'2' guard, but Vince is 6'6" and needs to use that height to his advantage.

For the Sonics, this deal gives them stability in the froncourt where they have absolutely zero presence on the boards. Reggie Evans, who probably should be in the starting lineup is the teams only true glass cleaner. Marshall is a top-ten rebounder in the league, which would allow the Sonics to continue to play their run-n-gun style and not have to worry about relying on a Jerome James or Vitaly Potopenko to grab a dozen combined rebounds every night. Peterson would also add yet another viable outside shooting threat from the wing, if he can get regular minutes on a game-to-game basis he shown an ability to be a consistent producer. I'm assuming Marshall will play the four spot with Peterson logging ample time at the three. This would free-up more PT for Antonio Daniels and Flip Murray, relieve the Sonics of Barry's contract and give them the desperately needed rebounding help that they need to keep them in the playoff hunt.

I might not necessarily love this trade if I were a Raptors fan, but in the long run it might end up being a very wise move.

1) Barry is a natural combo guard, and can easily pass for an NBA point.

2) He is a far superior point guard to Jalen Rose. He is a lot more unselfish, he is not shoot first and he has a much better attitude in terms of knowing his role and sticking to it.

3) Have you ever actually watched Brent play? He would bring a LOT to that Toronto team.

They are not going to challenge with their current team, why not switch it up a bit? Donyell is great, I love him, but he's over 30 and the Raptors have the chance to land a couple of guys that will really help the team, one of whom is only 23 with a ton of upside.

I would never do this deal. We dont need a small forward. Barry expires so he could leave. If we trade Donyell we would have to get a legit center and a point guard.

Donyell is 30 but Brent Barry is even older (32). You and ogshowtime do bring up good points though. I've seen Radmanovic play and he does look promising. Brent Barry can also open up Vince's game so he can try to be the player he once was. But you also got to realize that our interior defence has been a problem for us since the beginning of the season. The trade with Chicago in December made us an even smaller team and this trade would make our situation even worse. No Raptor fan would ever want to see Donyell leave and having a frontcourt consisting of Moiso, Bosh and Radmanovic would just not cut it, even in the Eastern Conference. Unless we add a true center, then we can kiss the rest of this season good bye.

If this trade goes through then my prediction would be that GG will let Barry's contract expire so we can free up some salary space in the offseason. With both Barry's and Olajuwon's contracts expiring this season, we can acquire a true center and a point guard.

This would mark the worst day in Raptors history if this trade went through, Donyell is averaging around 18 and 11 as a Raptor, and has been by far the most consistent on this team. As for getting "more" of a perimeter game by acquiring Radmanovic, that can't be true, Marshall brings a very good perimeter game for someone his size (40.4% from 3), along with a strong inside presence in terms of rebounding and inside scoring.

Radmanovic shoots an awful percentage for a big man (39% compared to Marshall's 48%) which is something we definitley don't need. The Raptors need a high % scoring big man that can score down low, the Raptors are an awful shooting team so getting Radmanovic is ridiculous.

Barry, however would be beneficial to us, but hes injured, and for the price of Marshall I wouldn't do the deal. In my eyes Marshall has been too productive to pass up. The Raptors are looking to finish their season a little over .500 which would get them into the playoffs, I can't see how bringing Radmanovic would make that happen.

props to thefranchise3 ^ no way raptors should make this trade, it is terrible. Marshall has played amazing with the raptors and barry is more of a sf. Peterson can be clutch at points and rad is definitly not clutch. DONT DO THIS TRADE GG

I'll put it like this, Marshall is the ONLY player in the assossiation that is in the Top 20 in : Rebounds, Blocks, FG % and 3 PT FG% !

.. There's no way in hell this trade hsould go down !

Just to make your statement sound a lot more convincing...

He is the only player in the NBA to rank in the Top 25 in rebounds (13th), blocks (15th), field goal percentage (23rd) and three-point field goal percentage (20th).

thefranchise3 is perfectly right, this trade plain old Sucks!!!!! But, there is a way to make this deal good. Hows this

Get: Jerome James
Antonio Daniels
Give: Morris Peterson
Jerome Mosio
Michael Bradly

what u think bout this, it covers both positions we need help at, plus we don't lose that much. daniels has good stats, and jerome James would give us an inside player. Hes 7ft 1 in. what u think???

That sounds a little too good to be true. Seattle would be giving up more than they'll be gaining. There's a lot of teams showing in interest in Jerome James so it's gonna be hard to get him. Antonio Daniels is key to their success and is one of the more underrated point guards in the game. MoPete, Moiso, and Bradley would not be of interest to Seattle. All they really want is Donyell.

Replacing Bradley with Donyell will probably be more realistic but I still wouldn't want that to happen.
