Nick Van Exel AND Eric Dampier FOR Shandon Anderson, Kurt Thomas AND Dikembe Mutombo. Shocked amazed i heard it on espn fastbreak at halftime.
Yeah, I heard this too. This trade would help the Knicks even more. C'mon, look at this lineup PG-Marbury SG-Van Exel SF-Houston PF-Timmy T C-Dampier Dampier is a good rebounder and shot blocker. A lot more mobile than Mutombo. Thomas is a good defender as well. Then you got the best offensive shooters in the league at the 1-2-3 spots. Atleast this is how I'd setup the lineup from this point for the Knicks. Then I'd bring Penny off the bench.
Yeah I heard it too. But they didnt say it was done, yet. they are just talking extremely hard about a possible deal. But the Knicks are giving up 2 bigmen for one. So Iam not eactly for sure why they do this trade unless they really plan on bringing in Vin Baker to play that PF spot, I not convinced that this trade really helps them all that much. With this trade Eric Dampier would start at PF & Nazr Mohammod at center. Well Iam not sure if Narz is ready to be a starter on a playoff team. And with him starting it takes away from the knicks bigman depth off the bench. So they will have to bring in baker to make this trade look good imo. Adding Van Excel to a backcourt that includes Steph,Houston and Penny is kinda scary tho. If I was the Warriors I would make them throw in Frank Williams.
I think it will look like this PG-Starchild SG-Houstin SF-Penny PF-Tim Thomas C-Dampier Van exel playing a-lot of mins off the bench tho stealing hardaway's mins
I don't think the Knicks will be done if this deal goes through. I see the Knicks looking to deal one of either Hardaway or Houston. Possibly going after a starting center or power forward.

Hardaway would continue coming off the bench for a lot of minutes still though.

Imagine how feared the Knicks opponents would be if bad boy Dennis Rodman was playing with the Knicks. Pissing off who he is covering and getting to their head throwing their game off.
Van Exel would not start, he is a great spark off the bench, and there is no need for him to start. Wow, I would definitely do this if i am the Knicks. Imagine PG-Starbury SG-Houston SF-Thomas PF-Nazr Mohammed C-Dampier(or switch PF/C) 6th Man Van Exel 7th Penny Thats a deep team
Why do people have tim thomas at the PF spot. The bucks tried that during their big 3 days and it just doesnt work. Tim thomas hangs out on the perimeter way to much on both ends of the court to ever be effective as a power forward. The Knicks will get killed inside & on the boards come playoff time if they ever put Tim thomas at the PF spot for long periods, let alone as a starter.
The seems like an absolute steal for the Knicks. I think they have a legitimate chance to make it to the nba finals if this trade does go through. I don't see how this benefits GS at all. Erick Dampier is the real selling point here. There's plenty of teams that would love to have him play for them. He's big center who's averaging a double double so far this season. NVE is just the icing on the cake. Plus you need to get rid of Mutombo because he ain't the player he used to be and he's WAY overpaid.
If this trade does happen, it will be after this game was over. I'd like to see it happen because I'd love to see the Knicks go all the way to the finals this season. I also agree with AllSkill911, if the trade does happen I think there will be another trade before the deadline hits, trying to get another PF.
This sounds really great. Although Mutombo has been playing really well for you, he's almost expired. Getting Dampier would be an invaluable asset, he's great on both ends, and being younger will be faster and have more energy then Mutombo. Getting NVE would be good, he wants to leave Goldenstate and could really bring some more offense to the Knicks game. Zeke sure is better at this than coaching. He should've done it earlier. Looks like the Knicks will become even stronger in the East and be ranked among the Nets, Pistons and Pacers. Hornets as well. I say go for it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting knicks235:</div><div class="quote_post">guys' dont forget dolac is a FA is the trade happends knicks wont have absolutly 1 hole in the linup</div> Knicks don't have Doleac anymore.
Doleac was in that trade, and then was cut yesterday. I don't think the Knicks want to start Nazr Muhammed. Mutombo is old, and slow, and thats what the Knicks don't want. I really like Kurt Thomas, but if they get Dampier, then its a great deal. I don't like NVE very much, but him and Penny (or Tim Thomas) coming off the bench, we would have 2 legit scorers, who are very athletic.
