I'm just one of MANY NBA fans & analysts SICK of hearing about Lebron all day. Charles Barkley is sick of all the Lebron Hype as is Tim Legler of ESPN. So is this guy: December 30, 2003 http://probasketball.about.com/library/wee...ck3diamonds.htm FIVE EASY PIECES: No Love for LeBron James' Nike Ad Campaign THE WORD: "Who are the ad geniuses behind this one?" was a standard hack-comedian line immortalized in a game-show skit with Jerry Seinfeld on SNL several seasons back, but seriously, who are the ad geniuses behind the LeBron James Nike campaign? It's as if they got together and decided to turn the public against LeBron with these god-awful ads that exalt him as the Chosen One and adorn him in robes and jewelry while pounding the even more god-awful "King James" nickname into our heads. Has Nike learned nothing from Professional Wrestling? By beating us into submission with how great LeBron is, Nike is galvanizing the legions of LeBron haters. It's enough to earn Nike's campaign the Three of Diamonds in our Deck of 52 Most Wanted.
Well your name is kind of contradictory "KingMelo". I am not sick of Bron ads because of him, I am actually a big fan of the one with Bernie Mac. I am sick of the ones that aren't funny, and people laugh out of obligation. The Sprite one is not funny, they play it on the big screen at every BYU men's home game, and the crowd laughs. I am also tired of seeing ugly ass clothes that say LJ23 on them. The clothes that he wears in there are an eyesore. Has nothing to do with him, but he clearly doesn't have much say in their design. Yet they sport his name.
All I can say is get use to it. Its going to be like this for the next 10+ years. Carmelo time will come were he gets his nike ads. As a matter of fact he had a team Jordan tv ad earlier in the season. And trust me me he has more to come. I would just suggest you turn the channel when all the Lebron stuff becomes to much. You dont have to watch those ads or espn segments. Its all apart of marketing.
LeBron is very good and revolutionary. He has such awesome rookie stats. He and 'Melo deserve the hype they get. However I don't think it's fair on others, meaning other rookies and other teammates. Take your team, the Nuggets for example. As good as 'Melo is, it's 'Melo this, 'Melo that. It always fails to see what an awesome and pure team you have. Through effort and their actual skills. Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, Voshon Leonard, "Boykins", are a few names on your roster that bring it 110% every single time on both effort and their abilities. As far as this goes, they do seem to be getting too much attention. Look at Dwayne Wade, great player, an actual guy who played well coming out of injury. Now there's some real heart and skills for you right there. Bosh and Dalembert, future upcoming stars. It's all there, just yet to be noticed. It's a controversial situation, they are deserving of it, but there just seems to be too much of it and a lack of some fairness and unbias treatment on the other players parts.

ESPN is gonna ordain someone else the NEXT chosen one, & Bron will actually have to EARN his hype next year, rather than just having it given to him.

Its BRONS fault why deserving guys like Dwayne wade dont get ANY hype. Wade drops 31 last night & NO ONE talks about it. Meanwhile Bron gets a pitiful 16 pts vs the Mavs, & ESPN shows his 2 highlights! Guys on the Cavs like Zydrunas, McInnis, Williams, & ESPECIALLY Boozer have been ignored cuz of bron. The Cavs have proven they can WIN without Bron. When Bron was hurt, Boozer got 32 pts & 20 rebounds to kill the Sonics. They also should have beaten the Kings without Bron & only lost by 6 pts. & My name ISNT contradicory. If any rookie deserves the title of "King", its MELO IMO. Anyone who can lead his team to 2X as many wins as last year by the ALL STAR break is King in my book. Meanwhile, Bron gets injured & the Cavs STILL beat the Sonics by double digits w/ Boozer geting 32 pts 20 Reb., & almost beating Sacramento. Plus in 13 of the Cavs 20 wins, Bron hasnt even been the highest scorer!
Ignored where? Not sure what kiddy board you came from but read some posts here before you run your trap. We give all ballers pub here. I bet you would fail to tell me what exactly this "hype" is anyway just like everyone else. Don't hate, because that is all this is brah. Things are ran a little different here.
Change your title from "journalism supervisor" to "hype monger." By the way the Cavs forum is THAT way --->. Since youre so blinded by your own bias, I wont bother explaining it to you. If you cant see that Bron is overhyped compared to Melo, you've been living under a rock the past 10 months. Either that, or you have no access to a TV, newspapers, & magazines, which is basically the same thing as living under a rock.
im certainly getting sick of the "crazy court vision" nike commercial, they show it over and over and over again on all the sports channels up here. it was funny at first, but i am getting kind of sick of it as for the hype, its well deserved...have you seen the guy play? hes amazing.
I don't really care much for the LBJ ads but what I hate is the media asking people about the rookies but always end the question with something along the lines of "specifically with regards to LeBron and Carmelo." See All-Star Weekend for the most recent examples. HEY CRAIG SAGER/JIM GRAY, DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHER ROOKIES IN THE LEAGUE TOO?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post"> as for the hype, its well deserved...have you seen the guy play? hes amazing.</div> As good as he is, Jordan averaged 28 pts a game as a rookie, & even HE didnt get as much hype as Bron, or $90 Million! Before you compare him to Magic, Magic played with this little player named Kareem Abdul Jabbar his rookie year, & he had to compete with him for buckets. Bron is the main offensive threat on the Cavs, yet his rookie stats dont come close to a player like Jordan. How can he deserve all the hype when he get 90% of the hype & isnt even the best rookie in his class?? Melo doesnt get 1/10th the amount of hype that bron gets, even though hes lead the Nuggets to 12 more wins & a playoff berth in the stronger WEST!
kingmelo, you sound AWFULLY familiar to a guy that HATED LJ at the official Cavs forum. Do you go by jterry at gundarena.com?

The Cavs are 2nd to the Lakers in road attendance. The people (majority) have spoken, they want to see LeBron James. In your case, "hype" and "hate" go hand and hand. Next?
dude this is like your first day here why are you trying to make enemys instead of friends? What did LeBron do to you?

Bron was 4th among Guards in voting, & Melo was 3rd among forwards in the west, only behind Duncan & Garnett in voting. When someone unfairly gets $90 Million on a silver platter rather than earning it in a league where all the players are ALREADY overpaid, dont you think thats a bit lame?

Dude, saying Melo was third and Bron was fourth is a pretty weak argument when you're bringing up a point like that. Besides, there were at least two other forwards that should have made the all-star game before Carmelo did, Elton Brand and Zach Randolph were both deserving. Melo will get his chance, he'll be there for the next dozen years. I'm not Cavs fan or a Nuggets fan, but I can look at both of these players objectively and see that LeBron is obviously the personality that is going to be marketed. Why do you think they started hyping this kid at 15? I like Melo too, I'm a 'Cuse fan and it was great to watch him take that team to a title, but the dude just isn't LeBron James. It's like saying that rather than Michael Jordan (just a comparison by popularity), they should have been hyping Clyde Drexler. Both great players, one had a personality that sold products, one didn't, it's that simple. Like Hennesy said, get used to this because you're going to get a steady diet of it for at least the next 10 years. The bottom line is this: If you were LeBron would you turn down 90 million? That's the thing - you wouldn't, nor would anybody else with an IQ near room temperature. I would take that money, put on my shoes, smile for the camaras and hit the court. I respect the hell out of this guy for the way he's handled himself, he's been class all the way. Melo doesn't have to deal with the constant media barrage that LeBron does, and I think he really prefers it that way. BTW - You've found out for yourself, but if you disrespect LeBron or KJ - you have to be ready to feel the wrath.

KJ said the "people want to see Bron" yet he cant even get a higher spot than Melo in all star voting in his position even though Bron gets 10X more hype. Why is Melo's jersey a strong 2nd if people dont want to hear about Melo? The real problem about your very weak argument is that Melo is winning while Bron isnt. Bron hasnt even been the teams highest scorer for 13 of their 20 wins. People dont want to buy the shoe of a person that loses all the time- just ask T-Mac. Actually after the season is over, Bron's hype will fade just like Yao Ming's has. There will be a "next big thing" in the NBA, & he will take all the hype away from Bron. Bron will be yesterdays news next year. Its funny that people hype him to be "a once in a generation player" yet he isnt even the best rookie in his class! Melo is only 7 months older, & he will have lead a team to an NCAA title, & win rookie of the year. Not to shabby. I would obviously take the $90 Million if offered, but I would also realize that if I dont win, I'm gonna be killed by the critics & media. & Thats exactly what Bron should expect, cuz he hasnt been winning with the Cavs. He hasnt even been the teams highest scorer in 13 of their 20 wins. Boozer is more important to the Cavs than he is. The Cavs went 2-1 with Bron injured, while Boozer went for 32 pts, 20 rebound to beat the Sonics. The cavs went 0-8 with Boozer gone. Bron may get all the ESPN hilites, but Boozer get the results. You are just one of the many people who have been fooled by all the hype. How about actually thinking for yourself rather than eating the BS that the media feeds you, eh Mr. "objectivity"? The problem w/ Nike & the media is they are trying to CREATE a superstar rather than having Bron EARN his superstar status. You may be able to fool SOME guillible people, but the majority of NBA fans know that superstars EARN the status, & the media cant just create them no matter how much hype or Money they put into someone. Besides, before calling Bron the next Jordan, I hope you know that he could be injured tommorrow like Grant Hill & his career could be on the rocks. So lets wait & see before ordaining ANYONE the next big thing. If anyone is an NBA star right now, its King Melo.

LeBron could easily go on a tear like he did in December.
