Boston traded for Chucky Atkins,Lindesy Hunter cash and a 1 pick They gave up Mike James and Chris Mills in a three way trade that helped Detroit land Rasheed Wallace
I like this trade and it may be the first succesful one in Ainge's GM career. They now have three first round draft picks this season. And Mike James production will be made up by Atkins and or Hunter.
James is much better than Atkins, in my opinion. I don't like this trade for the Celtics, but I love it for the Pistons. Seems like the Celtics were just trying to help the Pistons out; this doesn't make them any better. The first round picks, I'll admit, are nice, but I don't know if they'll pick anyone good. They should trade those for a higher pick.
Am I dreaming or did Danny Ainge FINALLY make a good trade? Chucky Atkins can make up for Mike James, Lindsey Hunter is a pretty good 3pt shooter, and you get a first round pick. Trouble is, Detroit will probably have a low pick with how well they will do.
3 first round picks is a rebuilding teams dream. even if they dont get in the lottery its hard to miss a good player with 3 first round picks

Unless Danny Ainge is the one doing the draft picks. I don't see how this trade really benefits the Celtics. The '04 draft class is weak to begin with and James/Mills easily have more value than Atkins/Hunter.
Maybe Boston can get some legit front court help with the picks, they already have provem scorers......this is a good trade.
Rather if we think they improved or not, this trade won't change the Celtics season. I was looking for something bigger from them, if they even get into the playoffs, they will struggle, Pierce can't do it all by himself. Ainge should have done something to acquire more help in the frontcourt, maybe a Jerome James or Eric Dampier.
Not sure about the contracts but I'm thinking that this trade was only made to dump these guys at the end of the season. I mean, after all, Hunter is 54 years old.
