I'll break it down for you cats.....

Yes people can get injured at anytime in the NBA,however if you have a truly dedicated offseason workout routine and take care of yourself and stay in shape there is great chance you will go without alot of these injuries because the muscles of your body are stronger and well conditioned to take alot of the beating of a season. And this isn't counting weight training.

Examples of cats who notorious for taking care of themselves in the offseason:

    Stats up to last season.

Michael Jordan - Of a career 1165 games he played in 1072 for a career season average of 77.7 games played.(Mike broke his leg in '85-'86 season and had knee surgery in '01-'02 at the age of 38)

Karl Malone - Of a career 1443 games he played in 1434 for a career season average of 80.2 games per season.

Scottie Pippen - Until the age of 32 Scottie never missed a significant amount of game time. So lets take his first ten seasons in the League out of 820 games he played in 789 games for a 79 game season average. Now as Pip got older he was injured more, but you can't hold age against someone especially when they do take care of themselves in the offseason.

John Stockton - Out of a career 1526 games to be played he appeared in 1504 for a career season average of 80+....

Reggie Miller - Out of a career 1280 games to be played he has appeared in 1243....with a career average of 77.7 games per season.

Now look at all these guys, notorious for taking care of themselves in the offseason and getting themselves ready for the 82 season grind. Only age has stopped this cats.

People notorious for doing jack in the offseason and NOT getting ready for the 82 season grind.

Chris Webber - Out of a possible 820 games to be played he has played in 596 for an average of almost 60 games per year.

Shaq - Out of a possible 902 games he has missed 160...He had a string of three seasons where averaged just over 54 games per year. The knock on Shaq his entire career has been that he didn't care in the offseason. And when he got to LA it was even more apparent as his first two season in LA he only played in about 53 games per, missin an average of 30 games a season. I always heard that Jerry West chewed his ass out for his offseason work habits and an improved Shaq was seen up until last season.

Penny Hardaway - Out of a possible 820 games played has played in 571 for an average of 57 games per

Now lets look at Vince....his first three seasons in the League he was fine...but there was always rumors and inuendos that he did jacksh!t in the offseason to ready himself for the coming NBA seasons and look at what has happened to him..multiple seasons in a row that he has missed 20+ games because of injury and during his prime years of playing and it has continued into this season. The same can be said for the rest of these cats too....knocked for their lack of offseason training and all have had multiple back-to-back injury plagued seasons in the prime years of their career.

Look at the ones who were lauded for their offseason work and fitness....only age could break 'em down and all of 'em only had injuries when they were 30+........also 4 of 'em played together and you can't tell me it's a coincidence that they work hard in the offseason and have had long, relatively injury free careers. while the ones that are constantly questioned because of their lack of hard work in the offseason have injury after injury.

Also, the guys with little or no injury trouble not only did they take good care of themselves in the offseason, when they started getting older and the bumps and bruises lingered longer they took up weight training to help maintain their strength during the season.

Please tell me how someone can avoid an injury like vinces once it actually happens. You'd have to have akles made out of solid metal, really why go through the trouble of typing that up when it doesn't apply to this specific injury. It's like you were saving that up for the moment vince got hurt once again

did you read what I posted? Do you ever pay attention to any of the things people say about players? Did I say any of it was fact? No. I said the knock against them and rumor was they were slackers in the offseason and everyone of them with that knock have a long history of injury.

Don't reply to a post if you don't bother to read the entire thing.

No,I wasn't saving that for this moment. I've made that argument since I've been on this site. Vince gets hurt alot. Vince hasa reputation and is repeatedly questioned for his lack of offseason work.

Ok, we all knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. But I know for a fact, Bowen and Vince never had great relationships as far as facin each other on court. Plus Bowen's really aggressive on D, and I also heard he's a prick. But I swear the god that looked intentional somewhat. The dude's pretty slick, the way he was lookin at the shot but was slowly stickin that leg out. Whatever, Im not hatin on Bowen or anythin, and Im not sayin he really meant to hurt Vince... but still, it's a possibility.

Anyhow, now with 3 of our starters out, this season is lookin to be another failure. Unless some miracle sh*t happens like couple years ago, but I really doubt that this time.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RapsFan:</div><div class="quote_post">Did you actually see the game? Watch the replay. Watch Bowen right after Carter takes the shot. Bowen and Carter have has their mixes in the past two years. I'm sure this was intentional.

Your quoting from Leo Rautins? *Sigh*</div>

Yes, I did see the game, I have watched the replay, and I did watch Bowen after the shot. Theres nothing wrong with what Bowen did, Richard Jefferson did it last year in almost the same situation (to vince). When your playing defense its crucial you don't jump for fakes, or jump for every shot a player takes. Staying on the ground isn't a bad thing to do, it just so happens that he landed on his foot. Neither player can be blamed for the injury.

By the way, I quoted Leo because he was courtside when he saw the injury live, all I said is that his injury didn't look good (meaning he could be out for a long time).

For your comment on Bowen and Carter having their mixups, that may be true, but they don't play each other enough to make it serious.

i suggest u watch that play more carefully, i agree staying on the ground isnt a bad thing to do on D, but he happened to extend his leg out, and there was no reason to do that, if his foot stayed put, VC wouldnt have landed on it, he knows and the whole league knows about bruce bowen, i wonder why they arent doing anything about it, his play was beyond dirty, wut if VC broke his ankle like hill.

I know what your saying but I don't consider that play intentional, Bowen had his leg out the whole time (before he shot), his leg was infront of him to prevent Vince from driving on the left side, and one thing you have to consider is that Vince never jumps straight up in the air when he shoots, he either kicks his feet out, or jumps forward a bit. Bowen never stuck his leg out when he was in the air, he stayed put. Remember when Vince did it with 6 games remaining last year, on the same ankle? Richard Jefferson was defending him, it was a similar play exept vince was near the foul line.

If we can't agree on that, we're going to have to agree to disagree.

^yeah...seriously man, the league should look more closely upon things like these and not let them just slip away; sooner or later, they're gonna have to make some sort of a statement to the players because we're talking about possible career ending injuries here to franchise players and potential hall of famers

Only to Vince man, this guy has so much bad-luck. I think Vince should be vindictive the next time we play Spurs. That idiot Bowen likes to stick off on the perimeter. I say Vince put his foot under him with the shot too. Bowen was cheap, plus who the hell has a greater percentage in 3 pointers than in free throws. He's a moron.

Half-Man Half-Season goes down again with another injury. It's unfortunate for Vince, but this might be good for Raptor fans. The last time Vince went down with an injury late in the season, the Raptors rallied to make a run and get into the playoffs.

I thought it was a knee injury, because he was out for a significant amount of time, last time he injured his ankle was against New Jersey last year with about 6 games to go in the season. By the way, last time they made a run to the playoffs I think before that they still lost 13 straight games (2 years ago?), for the 2-4 weeks that Vince will be out they won't have a winning record. This team does not have the talent to go to the playoffs without Vince and Jalen gone, as much as a critisize them when they're actually playing.

Bowen doesn't have the best reputation around the league, and it's not only Raptors fans that feel that way. He's known for some very questionable defensive tactics and his history proves it. I would say it isn't above him to do that sort of thing. Just like Ray Allen said, "... He knows. The whole league knows about Bruce."

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/spor...csreport20.html

I would definitely say from the Carter and Bowen's history, that they have something more than just a little tussle. Carter was more heated than I saw in a long time towards another player when he got t'd up with Bowen on the Dec 17th game.

Knowing these facts, and watching the replay over a dozen times, I really have to strongly question how 'unintentional' Bowen's actions were.

Carter could be back on Sunday

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">VINCE CLOSE: The Raptors have always maintained that Vince Carter would be sidelined "indefinitely" with a moderate left ankle sprain and there are those within the organization who think his return could be sooner rather than later.

Two people close to the situation think Carter could be back in uniform Sunday afternoon to face the Boston Celtics, the first day he can be activated.</div>

Great to hear, they'll be needing him. His new cautious and intelligent play are key to some victories, he provides well. I think he really ought to take a rest though, either that or build up some real good resistance in this next half of the season's, he's getting as banged up as Boykins going up against Shaq.
