i can't believe the pistons would do this to my team!! I have been a fan for 15 years and counting and i bring my son to the games in detroit and he looks at these players as role models. Why would i want him to go and watch a man who is convited for having and smoking weed. How can i go and pay to watch them now, i am seriosly considering refunding my season tickets. this is absurd , i feel bad the organazation is going in this direction!!!

I kind of understand where you're coming from here, but I don't have children so I can't fully grasp your frustration. All I know is that there are much worse guys in this league than Rasheed Wallace. I know the Pistons have built a strong a foundation with copeable, responsible players who have bonded with the community and earned their respect, but I don't think Rasheed will corrupt that at all. There are many factors here which may work to the advantage of the Pistons and Rasheed. Larry Brown is a UNC alumn and former coach, he likes Wallace and knows how to handle his personality type. I highly doubt Larry or Joe would want to bring somebody in whom they felt would be a distraction from what the team is trying to accomplish.

We all know about Sheed's problems with the league and the DWI, but what about all of the players who get constantly pulled over while under the influence of alcohol? They're too numerous to recall them all, but there have been many high-profile players that have had much worse off-court problems. I think if nothing else it's worth a shot for the remaining 30 games of the season, either things work out well and the Pistons resign him to a long term deal, or it doesn't go as planned and Sheed bolts for New York. Either way, the team has made a move to bring a championship back to Detroit, which is something that Piston fans have to appreciate. Everybody makes mistakes and is deserving of a second chance, I think things will work out fine with Rasheed.

"What's wrong with uncle Cliffy?" - You mean uncle Spliffy??? Lol

Rasheed is one of the best guys in terms of going out into the community and giving back to the people. Through schools, Hospitals e.t.c

No Pistons fan should be angry by this trade

Give up nothing and in return get Rasheed Wallace and Mike James is a steal.

Kobe isn't the only guy who is on trial for rape after this trade.

What is Dumars defense going to say? He is obviously guilty. :P

AllNet is right, we got Rasheed and Mike James and gave up nothing. Technically, we just got Rasheed because Chucky and James cancel out, but it is still a free Rasheed. [IMG]

I agree 100% Allnet - Classic line too...

Actually, I think the Pistons made out with getting MJ as well (sounds good huh?). Atkins was decent, but James is younger and is having a better season. He earned a starting spot after only one year in the league as an undrafted player and seems to be improving.

Hence the name "Uncle Spliffy", I know the Rome fans out there have heard this one. I'm not advocating illegal substances, but to me this is somewhat trivial compared to some of the other offenses that guys get picked up for.

Why not? The pistons are going to be a better team with him on it. And about the marijuana... maybe with this street cred, he'll appeal to more people of Detroit.

To "my" team? do you own the pistons or somethin? First i highly doubt rasheed will be there very long. and as a critic of rasheeds behavior, i think he has matured and i dont think brown will put up with it. the guy did coach iverson. dont refund your tickets man the pistons are still a great team.

I think you'll see a marked change in Rasheed now that he's with Brown in Detroit. If I were a season ticket holder I would be thrilled about this move.

I think everyone should stop looking at Rasheed Wallace as a bad boy, he matured, and he doesn't get that many technicals anymore. Plus its not what he does off the court, its what he does on the court. The guy can shoot threes, post up, dunk, his rebounding got a lot better, and he can also block shots, plus I believe he can be the leading scorer for the Pistons. Don't see him as a criminal, the guy is one of the best power forwards in the league. People don't like him because he is straight forward, and the media is always dissing him. He doesn't go around in interviews, he tells you what's in his mind, and I respect him for that. He used to get carried away easily, but he clamed down (that also shows me he got love for the game, he tries hard every game, and not wanting to lose is a great thing), and I do believe refs call bad fouls on him. He's my favorite power forward, and i'm glad he got traded to the Pistons.

 Well said. You summed it all up right there, Wallace is looked upon as a "bad guy" much like Barkley used to be. I'm not saying he's a Barkley caliber player, but he's pretty damn good and I would definitely like to have him on my team. I used to dislike Chuck in his early playing days, but then I realized that nearly everything he said had a good sum of validity attached to it. Can't say enough about the heart he showed when he went to Phoenix and reestablished himself, hope the same happens for Sheed in Detroit.

Do you guys think that too much was given up for Sheed though? What about the rumors circulating about him wanting to go to the Knicks next season anyway?

Giving up too much for Sheed? I'm sorry but I absolutely do not understand how you can think of this trade as anything other than robbery. We gave away a few expiring contracts, Chucky, and two late first round picks. Now, for the expiring contracts, we got Rasheed Wallace, who can be one of the better players in the league. For Chucky, we received Mike James, who at the very least is as good as Chucky. The picks don't bother me either, the draft class is supposed to be very weak this year. Yes, you can always get a miracle pick and find a Michael Redd or a Gilbert Arenas but you can also get a complete bust.

As for the rumors about him leaving, I wouldn't pay too much attention. With the trade we got far under the salary cap, that we could resign Memo Okur and if Rasheed wanted to stay, even him. Everybody always says that they want to go to New York but it doesn't always happen. If Detroit gives Rasheed a chance at the title and the fans enjoy him being in town, I'm sure that he will change his mind about going to the Knicks by the end of the season.

I think the Pistons are counting on the fact that they will be able to re-sign him in the offseason. If not, what did they really lose? They're already stocked with young talent, so the draft picks don't mean anything, they're going to be late 1st rounders anyway. As far as the players they gave up, Sura, Atkins, Rebraca and Hunter - pretty insignificant if you ask me. Atkins was somewhat producing, but Rebraca wasn't coming back next year anyway, and Sura and Hunter are really non-factors.

The risk is worth the reward with this trade, if you have a chance to acquire a legitimate star player and give up nobody of note, I think you have to do it. The Pistons went from being a possible contender, to a possible favorite for the east title. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
