Being a subscriber of NFL Ticket, was disapointed that I could not receive my beloved Packer game because of blackouts. I understand the rules based on the NFL's contract but unfortunately my situation falls through the cracks. Because of my living location (the lower side of a bluff) it is impossible for me to receive my network affiliates signal (FOX) that will have these games. I even went as far as contacting the CEA (Consumer Electronic Assoication) on what type of equipment I would need to get the affiliate's signal. After their advice, I bought a antenna that was capable of getting violet -UHF signal up to 100 miles from the tower. However, UHF signal travels by line of site, not the contoures of the earth. Hence, I'm screwed and no options but to see the blackout screen on Sunday. Do I have any options? I have attempt to contact the affiliate directly but with no response to my messages. Thanks to any feedback.
wait... so why wont they let you watch your games? shouldnt you get FOX as a local channel, or didnt you pay for that?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bloken)</div><div class='quotemain'>Do I have any options?</div> You have several options off the top of my head... Move. Though that is not usually a good option. Buy more steel and build a really high receiver. Alot of money for one game a week. Go to the game. Also cost prohibitive. Change the laws of physics. OK. That isn't really an option either. Change teams for which you root. After further review... You are screwed. I don't envy you.
NFLFAN 04: DirecTV does not offer a local FOX channel for me. They did determine via onsite visit that I cannot receive FOX local programing by means of a antenna so they gave me FOX East (NY) & FOX West (LA). Neither of which will have my home team on. SEND EM BACK AL: I need all the humor I can get these days. In order of most likely to do: Go to the game - I am going to two Move - The family might not like it but a guy has his priorities Change the laws of physics - this will happen before the NFL or DTV will do anything for me Build a high tower - I would need the crane that built Miller Park to get this accompished. Change Teams - I guess I am just stubborn. What sux worse is even if I did get the Fox local here, they don't offer a HD signal and they still would blackout the game. Talk about just looking for ways to have a guy drop DTV! B
as I understand it, you should only get blacked out if your within the "Blackout" zone, and if thats the case, all the antennas in the world wont help you because the local broadcast will be blacked out as well....2ndly, I would think the Packers would have sold out all the games for a long time, and the blackouts would have been lifted....
The Beef: Sunday ticket has this new contract with the NFL that states if the local affiliate is showing the game, they cannot. My local affiliate does show the game but I cannot get their signal because of the terrain around me. Sunday ticket blackouts aren't determined if I can get the local affiliate signal, it is determined by the affiliate's service area by zip code. That is how I get the shaft. B
Warning: no real solution being offered in this post.... Do you live in Wisconsin? If so, where? That is quite the bluff it sounds like. Sounds like it could be a nice place to vacation, especially knowing I can safely avoid seeing a Packers game.
Way to kick a guy when he is down VF. Wait, if the bluff is on the Green Bay side, then he would be facing Viking country? LOL. I see your line of thought now. Seriously, CBS comes in slightly fuzzy for me, but in Iowa, they somehow chose to pick the Cowboy-Browns game to show, so I couldn't watch it on Sunday Ticket. The reason I bought Ticket was because the Midwest always thought there was a better game to show than that. I don't like the new rule either, but I don't have a suggestion for you...other than to drop DTV and pick up something with local stations....or pay additional for basic cable with a FOX channel if that is an option...along with DTV
I have one solution, but it might not work....Im told that you dont have to subscribe to regular programing to maintain your DTV dish and direct ticket....if thats the case, you could get cable for reg. programing, which includes locals and then use DirecTv only for sunday ticket....all this assumes that cable is available in your area....
That's not a horrible idea...there was a post on this very subject. Its located here: http://www.nfl-forums.com/viewtopic.php?id=955 Let us know if that works.
VF: I live in Minnesota along the Mississippi. Cable would be a great idea however they do not cable where I live nor highspeed internet. I am not quite as secluded like the living quarters of the Unabomber, but pretty close. Dish Network does offer that affiliate, but that comes from their satelite at 121 DEG. Right now, to get high def from DTV on satelite 119 DEG I am approximately 30 ft up in the air to get that signal. I have no idea how much higher I would need to go to pick up another two degree's. PS: Vikingfan - I live in Minnesota and get every Minny game in HD, pretty choice picture. I would recomend a HD purchase to see it. That is unless your local affiliate is showing the Vikes- then the NFL screws you. B
