Sorry if you guys are only talking about current players, because my favorite all-time dunker is Spud Webb. Seeing replays of him dunking still amazes me... ahhh...

The best all time dunker in NBA history is Michael Jordan. But current, is probably Vince Carter, but don't forget J-Rich. Vince is getting old now though, don't know if he still has it in him, but I think he still does. Just look at the All-Star game for example.

VC is the best dunker ever. he doesnt dunk that much anymore because he knows hes so injury prone. but when he does dunk it amazin.

The problem with Lebrons through the leg dunk is he puts the ball under his knee

if he was given a chance at every game and someone stole the from the opposition(tmac-vince duo back in '00), vince would throw it down, just because he doesn't throw it down as much, does not make him any less of a great dunker.. by the way.. did anyone see those KobeTwo commercials?..kobes got mad hops

It would be a tie between Jason Richardsson and Vince Carter for me...but Rafer Alston is also very good.

I don't want to sound like a biased Raptor fan but I'd have to go with VC (assuming his legs are at 100%). And even though he's not dunking like he used, he still managed to pull off the nba's best dunk for the first half of the season as voted on nba.com (his windmill dunk on the break in Cleveland).

But people here seem to be comparing him to J-Rich. IMO I would have to go with VC hands down. Carter combined strength, grace, skill and creativity. J-Rich is creative and has skill but doesn't have the combined stength and grace that VC brought. I think the amount highlight reel dunks (during his first few seasons) & the amount hype he got going into slam dunk contest should be enough proof that he's a much better dunker.

All time, I have to go with Michael Jordan. He could do so many amazing things and his multiple wins in dunk contests show that he was very good. But, than again, there are still people like Dominique who were great, Dr. J probably was the person that revolutionized dunking. Than, currently, I have to go with probably Jason Richardson. He's as creative as they come anymore and he's very good at it.

The best dunker in the NBA hands down is Vince Carter who else in the NBA has done what he has done.I am a Jason Richardson Fan but when someone is saying it is a toss up between him and Desmond Mason,Yeah Right, dont make me laugh JRich can do some incredible stuff but VC aka Vinsanity aka Air Canada aka to much hops he is hands down the best dunker in the NBA currently.

P.S. He jumped over a 7 foot plus frenchman named Frederic Weis the man is crazy.

This guy isn't in the NBA, but has anyone heard of James "Nintendo" (old skool) Wilson.
He's 6'3, and storys about him say that he jumped over Manute Bol. I believe it, just wish I could've seen it. There's guys that can really get up but not good enough overall to make it in the Bigs. Like Vince's elbow dunk, like I stated many times before, some unknown guy that's 6-2 in 98, goes up and does a mini pump and throws his elbow in the rim form across his body. Now that was jaw dropping, really couldn't believe what I saw, and had to see it again and was like damn.

Anyways, I still say J-Rich, and the backboard through the legs is the greatest dunk of alltime IMO.

CHRIS ANDERSON!!! BETTA RECOGNIZE, REPRESENTIN' D-NUGS.

Nah. Just kidding, but he can throw it down for a white guy. J-Rich is in the top three but I disagree with whoever said he has finesse. His dunks are explosive. D Mase has so much presence and art in his dunks. He wins my style points. VC had such an awesome under-the-legs. I loved his slam back dunks off the front iron.

VC USED to be the best dunker of our time. But now with all his injuries I highly doubt he could compete with anybody else. Jumpers knee, yada yada blah blah. If he tried a through the legs again this year, he'd bust his knees.
I'd have to say of all time, MJ and Dr.J. Those cats are amazing. Back when dunking didn't occur as much as it does now, when everygame ther'es like 20 dunks.

And ooooo that Dr.J fastbreak dunk, dunno what it was called. The illest dunk ever, I dont care waht you guys think. You guys probably forgot about it, but the best dukn ever BY FAR.

What? what does injury prone have to do with dunking? Seriously that makes no sense. In any case, J.Rich is more athletic than Vince in dunking, BUT, he can't light up the crowd as much as Vince can, when Vince is about to dunk, everyone is tuned in and really watches with expectations. Even more so than J.Rich. When Vince won before, everyone was talkin about it and it was very hyped up, when J.Rich came out of all 2 dunk contests winning, ppl were like he's good, but they never went overboard, thats what makes teh difference. Vince has impact, there are always expectations on Vince. If he screws up, its a big deal, if J.Rich screws up, everyone would say "whatever". Take into account this last slam dunk, J.Rich didnt even win, and nothing big was in it, although he did 2 nice dunks. If Vince was in it, u'd here ppl talking about it more. Vince clearly is tired of showing off and wants to show a more complete game, hes even said he doesnt want to be just known as a dunker.

Are u talking about that cradle dunk he did over whoever it was. Seen it so many times and always forget to check who he did that on. He also had the best layup ever against the Lakers. That under the backboard between what 2 or 3 defenders with the right arm way out. VC did that too twice.

As far as VC, his dunks is very, very powerful. That's why it's so damn impressive. Like in the dunk contest, his windmill dunks flew the net straight up and that's the only time I've ever noticed the net fly up like that. His dunks are as powerful as they can be without breaking the glass.

Why can't you get this fact straight up in your heads? Vince Carter is the best current dunker in the league. Vince Carter is the best all time dunker. Nobody can argue about this. If this was year 2000 or 2001 everyone would agree with me. Now, just because he doesnt dunk as much doesnt mean he doesnt have the potential. he doesnt dunk because he doesnt want to be known as a dunker.

When he's healthy, Vince Carter. I've seen videos of both MJ and Carter in their respective dunk contest and I thought Vince was better. I think what sets him apart is that he makes it look so effortless. He seems to cruise to the rim and all of sudden, without warning, explodes to the basket. Plus, I never saw Jordan jump over a 7-foot dude.
