not necessarily true....spud webb? steve francis? allen iverson? they all have short legs, and are phenominal dunkers.

Their just short, but Steve is pretty noticable. He has short limbs period. I still think Lebron could jump over a 7 footer. If he could pull up his shorts a wee bit more.

Ming has has short arms as well. That's why his not in the top 10 in block shots. I mean he's 7-6 and Stuart Scott posted that his reach was 9-7. U would think it would atleast be 10 feet. Kobe did dunk on alot of people. Just this year, he hasn't gotten anything to spectacular.

Except for this year, Kobe Bryant was tops on the list for game dunkers. I think he's the greatest dunker who can't quite get up 40 inches. I don't care what that 50 top leapers list said about him having a 42. If he did, Vince Carter wouldn't have to bring back the dunk contest. So Kobe, the best dunker who's leap is under 40. More like a 38.

there was a time a couple of years ago when you asked this question and if you said anybody else BUT Vince Carter, you'd be labeled an idiot...
but times change and this is 2004...not 99, 2000 or 2001...

so therefore, as it stands right now...J-Rich and D-Mase hold the throne...
VC still has a little bit of legs left but as he said in an interview in the all-star break
"man, when i see the rim, my heart tells me to dunk it, do somethin spectacular but my body tells me somethin else...so when i see that rim, i just cant do it anymore"

he said somethin along those lines in an interview with sportsnet...that basically sums it up...his allstar game dunks were pretty amazing but nothing like he used to do before...IMO, VC in his prime NBA dunking years (98-99, 99-'00) was not only the best dunker in the NBA, but one of the best of all times...highlights every game along with dunks that made you go nuts...and the anticipation was even more amazing...even on the road, ppl used to buy tickets just to see a VC dunk...

as for VC's definition/impact....i think the number of copied dunks in the dunk contests now basically sum it up....

but J-Rich definetly deserves props...that thru the legs with one hand switch dunk is right up there in my list with VC's 360 windmill....

Best Dunker? Well, let's see.... I definitely say Vince Carter is the best dunker to have ever stepped on a basketball court in the NBA - HANDS DOWN!!!.... Nobody has ever given a performance at the dunk contest that he has.... Nobody has dunked on great NBA athletes in just about every conceivable situation like he has, nobody has ever showed the combined explosiveness and leaping ability, body-control and fluidity, extension, and power in quite the way that he has in the past. The guy can stand flat-footed and vertical-leap so high that his head actually hits the rim, which would have to give him about 42 or so inches since he's 6'6 - and two-footed jumping is not even his fortay (he's a better one-foot jumper than two). But technically, right now he's couldn't be argued as the best based on his performance because he has chilled out with the nasty facials these days... So, at this point I'd go with J-Rich, Lebron, or D-Mason.... But it's really kinda like RockyV - anyone seen this movie? Tommy Gunn is the champ, but he's more like a paper champ because he could not have won the title from Rocky.... So, I'll still say VC's got it in him somewhere, but he doesn't have that burning need to prove anything.....

I think of this thread of who is the best dunker in the league right now. Not past events. Vince yeah, but not this year. J-Rich, DMase, Lebron James and even Ricky Davis had better dunks this year then Vince. I would pick VC if it's over a career spand. Man injuries suck, and VC still in his 20's but those injuries took him down about 2 notches.

u would need to specify by wat u mean by best dunker
desmond mason is a great dunker, but not from stand still, hes a runner
    for flare richardson
but overall the best dunker would probably be VC, because he combines flare with power, and he can jump straight off the ground from standstill.

After tonights game against the pistons, Carter did a 360 without even trying, most dunkers wind up and try really hard, vince just jumped off the floor and did it, not even hard and trying, didnt even scream and raise up his fists on the way down, just did it and ran back just for the fans. Its too easy for him to do good dunks, no wind-up needed for him. He prolly feels he's above the level of dunker and doesnt feel he have to prove himself when he can prolly do everything (in terms of dunking).

It wont "wow" you though, its a regular arsenal dunk of his. Everyone expects him to do good dunks when he does. It didnt impress me at all when watching, it probably won't impress you either. But if you saw someone else like say, i dunno, T-Mac or Lebron james do that, it might wow u..

360 always wows me in any kinda game. He does the most 360s, but still I like seeing them over alot of those hockey or baseball plays. But if I did see T-Mac or Lebron do it, I would be more impressed because I honestly haven't seen T-Mac do that in a game and never seen Lebron do that period like MJ.

This has nothing to do with the best dunker

DID MJ EVERY DO A 360? I the DVD collection several times and haven't seen a 360 from the airness. Man I would love to see that.

I say Lebron, espically since they're were reports of his torso being level with the rim at a Cavs practice.

Torso, that's pretty over exagarrated. I seen his eyes at the rim in last years powerade DC. I doubt that he could get higher then that and His Airness has never done a 360 pubicly. Which is amazing when you think about it. You would think he would be the 360 dunk king with all the things he did in the air.
