Umm... let's hope not. Even without his alcohol problems, he isn't that great of a player. I say yes if his payroll isn't too high. No if it's a lot. He's too unstable and un-consistent....
riley said they are interested in anybody with size, and they'll take a good look at him. i think it would be a good move. for one thing he's trying to contest the celtic's release, and the whole thing hinges in his being able to play. is in his best interest to play hard for the team that hires him. if he's a total screw up, he can't do worse than samki walker or any other dead wood in the bench. if he's anywhere near what he's capable of, watch out.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cubanballer:</div><div class="quote_post">or any other dead wood in the bench.</div> Pun intended? Hehe, I can't stand Loren Woods. I would love Vin Baker to play for the Heat and i'm confident he would stay sober/clean and do very well, it would be like a fresh start. Lamar Odom is a perfect example of this.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">Pun intended? Hehe, I can't stand Loren Woods.</div> yeah, that's what we call him "hey it's garbage time, go dead wood!"
I say lets not sign Vin, we got a good young team coming together no need for distractions..........let Samki Walker and Mallik Allen do the dirty work inside, the Knicks may need Vin more they're starting to struggle as of late
One teams trash is another teams treasure; Vin Baker has spent the past 2 days meeting with the Pat Riley and other Heat officials: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vin Baker has spent the past two days in Miami meeting with Heat officials and is expected to visit Monday with the New York Knicks, ESPN.com has learned. Baker, released by the Boston Celtics earlier this month, is being pursued by a clutch of Eastern Conference clubs that also includes Toronto, Philadelphia and Detroit. Sources told ESPN.com that Heat president Pat Riley is optimistic about beating out the competition for Baker. Baker's agent, Aaron Goodwin, refused to discuss specific teams but said the veteran power forward hopes to have a new club "by Tuesday at the latest." With $36 million left on his contract, Baker was released by the Celtics after he missed his 10th consecutive game. He missed those matchups while suspended, after failing to adhere to the guidelines of his alcohol rehabilitation program.</div> More here.
I think Baker could help a lot, giving the Heat much-needed interior scoring and rebounding...Grant could benefit a lot from his presence, and Baker is known to draw consistent double-teams, which would only help Odom, Butler, Jones and Wade...altho the Miami nightlife cant possibly be a good fit for his recent problems...
