i was really high on villanueva his first few games when he came in on fire.. but since just hasn't seen too much pt, and hasn't had the time to get the stats of anything significant.

he'll get my vote for sophomore of the year. ;0

andrew lavender should get some mention, he'll be a stud next season.

off that list i'm taking chris paul. he's been great for wake this season.

Gotta go with Kris Humphries, averages a double double and is the best player on his team.

    Not only a double-double, bro... 20/10!

He could go All-American with those numbers, and should most certainly get freshman of the year, irrespective of whether he has the most "upside" or whatever.

Also must give props to Andrew Bogut, 62% from the field, that's insane! Take some more shots, young lad. Can't wait to see this guy in the pros...

Well, Bogut takes 90% of his shot from two feet away from the basket, so his percentage isn't a huge shocker. He's still a great player though, and for a Freshman his stats are incredible.

Ohh, Wave, big on Sean Banks now?

Remeber a while ago when I said he would do real well, and you said he wouldn't even be eligible? Ahh....

I would put Deng ahead of Taft. Humphries is on a really bad team, and he is basically the entire team.

My freshman All American team :

    Chris Paul
    Sean Banks
    Luol Deng
    Kris Humprhies
    Leon Powe

I have to go with Luol Deng. First and foremost, he's 2nd on that team in scoring behind Redick, and that is very good considering the fact that they have fairly good depth on that team. Not too mention, he has been outstanding all year. He hasn't had many horrible shooting games and what not. He's been consistent. My thing about Humphries, if he was so good, he'd be leading his team to a winning record. Sure, he's got the stats to get it, but, his team is horrible. They had what, a 9 game losing streak in the Big 10 at a time before they got their one and only win so far in it. The other thing is he's inconsistent sometimes. For example, look at his game against Iowa. it took him 27 shots to get to 20 points. He only made 7 of those 27. After that, I can't remember what he did, but, it was slightly better than 7/27, I'd have to go and look to know exactly. But, those are the only knocks I have on him. But, yea, Deng for freshman of the year.

    EDIT:
One last thing I forgot, I know he's a big man and all, but, his assists are really, really low. He's not even getting 1 a game. C'mon, .8apg. Now, Deng's aren't much better, but, their still there. That's all now, unless I see something else that I overlooked that has any type of significance.

while i agree that luol deng and kris humphries are probably better nba prospects, i think that chris paul is doing the most for his team right now. Without his steady play at the point Wake Forest would be a bubble team. His ablility to show up in big games is something a lot of premier players in the country cant do. He should at least be in the top five if not the player of the year.

I agree with CP3, I go with Chris Paul.

Minnesota might even be better without Humphries as witnessed by their game at Iowa. He's a selfish player that works for the stat sheet more than for the team. He's still great though, and the fact that he's able to put up those numbers speaks volumes, especially with the rest of his team weak and defenses focusing on him.

I can't believe so many people are going with Luol Deng over Chris Paul. 5.5 apg for a college freshman is really quite amazing.

I would have to pick Humphries, I'm sure he would get more assists if his team didnt blow.

Also, Chris Paul is a great candidate, I expect him to probably win it.. him or Deng
