<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Calling his recruitment of New York City phenom Sebastian Telfair a "worthwhile gamble," University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino acknowledged yesterday that he thinks the point guard will make himself available for the National Basketball Association draft. But Pitino also said he still believes UofL has come out of the experience a winner, even if Telfair, who signed in November, never plays for the Cardinals. Pitino, former coach of the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, has a large network of friends in the league. He said that over the past month all of the feedback he got from them began to point to Telfair as a likely lottery pick. On Tuesday morning in Fort Worth, Texas, Pitino got a phone call from Telfair, who told him the feedback he'd been getting himself mirrored what the coach has been hearing. </div> I think he needs college for atleast one year, or this off season he needs to work on his shot. Telfair Story
I still dont think this will happen there is no rush frohim to go pro. I think his cousin would advise him not to go.
Bassy shouldnt go pro until after a few years of college, he should do what Melo did win a championship and then go pro.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CANT STOP ME:</div><div class="quote_post">I still dont think this will happen there is no rush frohim to go pro. He would've gone straight to League as well back in 1995, but back then nobody was thinking about something like that. Marbury had to go the college route because, for him, it was the only way to the League. Sebastian Telfair can choose. Anyway I hope he doesn't make the jump. As a huge fan of NCAA basketball I'm worried that some many young players deciding against college.
As much as I'd like to see him in the collegiate game, if he gets top 5-8 hype, he'd be silly not to cash in on it. What if he stinks it up as a frosh?
I wanan see him at louieville for atleast 1 year...Pitino can make him a much better player...and get him ready for the NBA!!
he should go pro, but i predict he doesn't. The cash is too beckoning, the kids who can get it, will go, i mean deshawn stevenson should've gone to college, but he went to the pros and got picked late 1st round, hes mediocre, but gets millions of dollars. he'll go pro.
I think he should wait, He should go one year to Louisville. Isn't he going to be like the shortest guy ever to make the jump?. (If he does it)
i live in louisville, and am a huge cards fan, and i agree that he shouldnt go. but unfortunately i have a sick feeling that he is going to b/c coach P sounds pretty sure of it. i think that he should come to UofL for at least one year b/c with him in the 05 recuiting class, its sure to be a fantastic year, and hes only going to get better. and i konw as a cardinal fan it would be a dream come true to see bassy on the court with coach p, cisco garcia, taquan dean, and ellis miles!
I'm really hoping that Telfair doesn't go draft. I don't want him to potentially ruin his career by choosing draft over college. We all know what happened to one Lenny Cooke. It's not like that will happen to Telfair, but, that is a possibility. But, still, as a tremendous fan of NCAA basketball, I would love to see him suit up for Louisville for at least one year. Get some experience before you go and tangle with the big boys. And, also, the point that STC makes, that backcourt will be one of the best in the nation. Telfair, Dean, and Garcia, probably won't be many better than that. That will be tough to beat and I'd think that they'd be a contender easily with that.
I hope he dont go pro, he just might mess up his whole career if he turns out to be a flop/bust like DMiles. He should get some college experience learn some new things from Pitino then kick it to the League.
According to SI's recent article on him, Telfair claims its currently "50-50" but sources close to him say 95% he's going pro...Even Pitino advised him to go pro if he's lottery bound.... I too would like him to go to college but I'm not counting on it happening...
Right now they have him going to Portland, that is the worst place for him to go, If he goes tehre he will get in trouble, I guaruntee it

i agree with everyone that he should come to UofL! i already find it amazing to watch cisco garcia and taquan dean play, but its would be like a kid in a candy shop to see bassy play with those to guys, plus Ellis Miles. thats almost like a guarentee national championship. but from listening to coach pitino over the past few weeks, i dont think its going to happen although he would be smart to come to college. and in regards to what someone said earlier about he could mess up as a freshman...well if he screws up as a freshman and cant handle coach pitinos style, then hes not good enough, or ready for the pros
