KG does derserve MVP, but it's still amazing how Kobe can still play at a high level considering all the distractions surrounding him.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">See, this is where you are wrong. What are you trying to say? Kobe wins it in the 4th, but it's all Shaq in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters? LOL, your a joke for making a comment like that. </div>

What I meant was that you guys are all pretty much saying its all Kobe especially in the 4th quarter. I'm saying that you guys wouldn't be in a position to win all these games if it weren't for Shaq. IF Kobe didn't have Shaq would the Lakers win as much games? Looking at last season I would say no. Now take Kobe out of the picture, would the Lakers win as much games? No, but they would do better because they have Shaq.

I guess I'm the biggest joke for making that comment, or maybe you are just the biggest ass for calling me one. One or the other.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you forgetting everything Kobe has accomplished in his career? If I didn't know anything about basketball, I would assume you were saying that statement about LeBron James 4 games into the season. </div>

Do you understand what I meant in the first place? Kobe has 4 good games under his belt after the all-star break and everyone is on a Kobe for MVP/he is the man, not Shaq rant. I think some over-zealous Laker fans are just getting a little ahead of themselves here. Lets be realistic and say that he won't have the MVP this year...and Shaq is still the man on that team. I guess saying this means I don't know anything about basketball. Get your head out of your ass.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe, what kind of question is that? Shaq has 2-3 more years left in him of dominance. Get Kobe another All-Star calibur player with a couple other good role players, and you've got a shot for a Championship. That is no kind of comparasion at all, Kobe is the future of this team, he needs to get signed, period. Yes, we have to get Shaq signed as well, I can't immagine seeing him go in a lack of the Lakers re-signing him and that would be a horrible call on the organization, hopefully he'll retire a Laker as well. </div>

You are acting like this is actually a bad question to ask. Everyone knows that with Shaq the Lakers have a chance at winning a CHAMPIONSHIP. Without Shaq there won't be any championships coming to LA and you can book that.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And AllNet, don't get it twisted, you know were all about the championships. But it gets annoying every year "Kobe is just a piece of the Laker success, Shaq does everything, etc..." Ya know.</div>

Who said this? After 4 good games (I'm not discounting what he has done in the past) everyone is saying MVP and Kobe is the man that makes the Lakers win. Saying that Shaq ain't the man on this team is terrible. He is the one dynamic that puts them over the Best teams in the NBA, not Kobe.

No sht they wouldn't, did I ever say the Lakers don't need Shaq or something, what made you make that comment? And also, Lakers wouldn't be in a position to win if it wasn't for Kobe either, they need eachother. But that has nothing to do with whose team it is, don't even know why you brought that up.

I knew exactly what you meant, but that statement sounded horrible. Kobe has 4 good games, that comment sounded like he hasn't proven anything. Actually, if you took time to read the topic no one actually said Kobe should be the MVP this year. Every person in this topic said that KG deserves to win it, but we also said if Kobe keeps it up he could be a contender, that's all. You don't read do you? Quote me where someone actually said Kobe Bryant should be the MVP of this season, before you make stupid comments like you just did. And if you didn't know before, I even know some Laker fans who thought it was Kobe's team last year, and it is slowly becomming true.

And what are the chances of Shaq winning a championship without Kobe there? What if Kobe leaves, and Malone/and or Payton decide to leave as well? Hmmm, that means your struck with a injury prone Center in his low 30's, with no chance of contending for the title. Then LA would pretty much be screwd, right?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I don't think anyone ever said it's Kobe's team in here. We are just trying to simply state the fact that Kobe is not getting enough credit, for what he does for LA, and these past 4 games have showed that he is slowly taking over for the Lakers. It doesn't come to suprise, this is Kobe's contract year where he opts out and is trying to prove the world that he can lead this Laker team, especially after the feud that happend in the off-season. Your acting like it can never be true. I am putting in my prediction that Kobe will be the MAN for the Lakers this year, and if he continues to carry the Lakers like he has these past 4 games, then like it or not, you'd have to agree with me.

After all, you are a Raptor and Laker fan. How odd? [IMG] [IMG] Comments like those don't suprise me.

Maybe I'm quoting the person who started this thread in the first place, "Kobe for MVP" is what I remember. AFTER 4 GAMES of playing mediocore opponents scoring 40 plus does not lead me to think that he is the leader of the Lakers nor an MVP candidate at the end of the year. This is Kobe's team when Shaq leaves. You are not even addressing the fact that Shaq is the one piece needed to make or break a championship. Take Kobe away from the Lakers and they still have a chance. Take Shaq away and there is no chance.

I admit that Kobe needs Shaq and vice versa but I may be going out on a limb to say that Shaq (deteriorating skills and all) stands more of a chance to win a championship on his own than Kobe.

You obviously know everything about me and all Raptors fans out there. Like I said before, please get your head out of your ass and try to stop making personal attacks on my fan status.

Its great how you like to use smilies to get your point across as well. How old are you now? Don't answer that one, I could care less.

Coming from a JBB asshole like you, I'm not surprised.

"Kobe for MVP" does not mean he's saying Kobe deserves to win the MVP award. I could say Rick Fox for MVP right now, does that mean I think he's going to win the MVP award? You remembered wrong, after you notice he says "I'm still praying". That statement right there is basically saying he "hopes" he'll win it, not that he will win it. And what's up with this 4 games stuff? It's not like he said since these last 4 games Kobe is officially an MVP contender. He said IF HE KEEPS THIS UP for the rest of the season, than it's possible. Once again, a simple read will keep you from being owned. Take Kobe away from the Lakers and they still have a chance? That's about the most funniest thing I've seen at JBB, and I'm serious. You should be embarassed to be a "part" Laker fan and make a comment like that. Just get out, LOL.

Someone has recently jumped on the Laker bandwagon....to say that Kobe gets enough credit for what he does is ridiculious. Shaq get's way too much for what he does to take this team all the way, most people just look at Kobe as just a "big help". The man who said it was Shaquille O'Neal. And for you completely say Shaq would still have a chance to contend for the Championship without Kobe is bizarre. You should be ashamed of yourself for letting a type of comment like that out. No real Laker fan would ever say something like that. I'm a Kobe groupie because....? It's reality, Kobe has been the MAN in LA now for these past 5 games. The offense looks to be ran through him more lately, he's able to create his own shot easier, as well as get others involved. Try watching a Laker game, son. And if your gonna let someone get under your skin because they're right, then JBB is not for you.

    And just for the record.....

Kobe continues to impress tonight after putting up 32 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds in 41 minutes.

    Shaq: 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists. 37 minutes.

But this just isn't about all stats, so I'm not going to take that as a disadvantage to Shaq, I love Shaq. Just pointing out Kobe has done it for the 5th straight game!!

I'm sorry to say but I actually believe in that. Actually I'm not sorry to say that because its quite possible with Shaq, Payton and Malone. You don't have to be a REAL Laker fan to realize that. I'm a fan but I'm just being realistic and not riding Kobes dick. Shaq and Kobe belong together and to have a 75% chance of winning the ring they should stay together, but Shaq is still the MAN no question.

And when did you get under my skin? I've dealt with worse assholes in my life....believe me.

As much as I like Kobe, there's no chance he wins the MVP this season, nor should he be considered to win it. He's been playing great basketball since the All Star Break, but we can't base his entire MVP campaign on those 5 games. The MVP should only go to Kevin Garnett (my choice) or Tim Duncan. They have been playing great for the entire season, and they have been "the Man" every single night for their respective teams.

I also agree Shaq is still the best player in Los Angeles, but he should let Kobe lead the team in the regular season. The way the game is officiated is completely different in the playoffs. In the playoffs, pounding the ball to Shaq is more effective, because it completely wears down opponents and puts tremendous pressure on a defense. A few years ago Vlade showed the media his chest after playing two games against Shaq. He was completely black and blue from the physical play of Shaq in those games. However in the regular season, Shaq should let the faster players run the show, so he can stay fresh and not wear down himself. This would be the ideal coaching strategy for the Lakers and I think it would help solve a lot of the problems between Shaq and Kobe's ego.

Your "MAN" almost cost us the game today. He played horribly and nothing at all went through him. I'm not a big fan about saying "who's team it is" or "who the man is" but after last season and now this one I'd say the Lakers have shifted to Kobe's team. Just because Shaq was their first option for years doesn't mean that it will stay that way. Kobe is the more effective player lately and people have to accept that. Shaq the "MAN" was the one who threw the ball to a Nugget, then missed two big freethrows. He played a decent game, but again he didn't do anything in the 4th except block one of Carmelo's shots. I'm a big time Laker fan and huge Kobe fan, and I also like Shaq alot so I'm not trying to discredit him or anything. You seem to have it stuck in your mind that Shaq is still what he was a year or two ago. Kobe's gotten better in that time and Shaq has declined. Like someone said earlier (sorry I can't remember who,) the Lakers are playing better through Kobe than Shaq right now. As long as we win the trophy again this year that's all that matters in the end.

EVERYONE MARK MARCH 5TH ON YOUR CALANDARS, MALONE IS SET TO MAKE HIS RETURN ON THAT DAY VS SEATTLE!

EDIT: And like Shapecity said, Kobe is playing great ball but even if he continues it its only the 2nd half of the season. KG has been doing it all season so unless Kobe averages 40ppg, 10assists a game and the Lakers win all their games left in the season he shouldn't even be considered.

You are not trying to discredit him but you point out the mistakes he made in one game?? Right. I'm not basing my decisions on the 25 point 10 rebound 3 block Shaq of old. I'm just saying that he is still the man in LA (I sound like a broken record).

I can agree with Shapecity, Shaq is going to be more valuable in the playoffs so Kobe should lead as of now.

I'm not trying to discredit him overall, today's game yeah I did because he played horrible. I do that when Kobe plays bad too. Shaq is a great player and I'm not trying to take that away from him, he just had a bad game tonight. Everyone has bad games.

Your obviously not getting the point, which is the reason you keep repeating yourself. Your totally misreading/misunderstanding the point I'm trying to prove. If you have nothing else to say, then just be done with it. Once again I will say, Shaq and the Lakers have NO chance of winning it all without Kobe, period. Any REAL Laker fan can tell you that, and I'm serious.

Nobody ever said he was, why do you keep talking this MVP talk like we mentioned "Kobe is going to win MVP." All we said was if he continues to play like these he'll be up there as a contender. Stay in school kid! Because your obviously not reading anything, you keep stating the same fact even though it's already been cleared up.

So why are you changing things up? If Shaq is the MAN, then that MAN carries us at all times. Don't try to say Kobe should lead us now, if Kobe leads us now, and we play well with the offense being ran through Kobe more, why should LA change that up, and start putting the offense in Shaq's hands again, come playoff time? Lakers are 5-0 since the break, WITH Kobe carrying the team. It sounds like your so stuck on Shaq man, he's the man until he retires right? It doesn't work like that, Kobe is on the rise, and their is no reason for him to sit back and be the #2 option, especially in a year where he's going to opt out. So Kobe got smart, it's obvious he has led us since the break and that's where we have had most success. And this is my prediction that this year is the year that Kobe takes over, and he will be the MAN to take us to the Finals. I'm pretty convinced after these last 5 games... Now it sounds like your booked on the "5 games does not make Kobe the MAN" type stuff. I never said that, this is my prediction that if Kobe is the one that puts the Lakers on his back every night, their is no reason to keep calling it "Shaq's team" just because he's that 7'2 300 pound Center, the talk has to stop sometime. However, KB still has to prove to me that he can keep up his play, before I actually make that type of statement.

Sure, Shaq will probably be the key threat like he always is, come playoffs, but don't look for Kobe to step down either. If he does it now, he's doing it in the playoffs.

Shaq determines how well the Lakers will able to stand their ground in the Western Conference playoffs. That's all that needs to be said as far as who "the man" in LA is.

Yeah, the Big Fella does the dirty work, and always carries us through the playoffs. And I will say it again, Shaq still is the man in LA, but Kobe is convincing me that if he keeps this up and it leads into the playoffs, we may see a change. However, you guys are basing this on the past years, we could possibly see something different this year. You never know, considering that Shaq wasn't really the "MAN" in last years playoffs.

The teams Kobe has carried LA against in the past 5 games have a combined winning % of 0.441. Playoff competition is a little more severe; we can go with pure speculation but recent history has shown that it is the big men who determine who comes out on top.

Guys Shaq is not the man, Kobe is the man, they are both as good as each other but Kobe actually works a lot harder than Shaq (most of you would agree with me on that one), and Kobe wasnt the one calling Lakers his team in the first place which shows everyone how big of an ego Shaq can be and where was Shaq when the team needed him last season, slacking off?? To have Shaq calling Lakers his team was a really daring statement and probably all he cares about is individual stats right now NOT THE TEAM. Shaq is not the man mentally, Kobe actually cares about his team more than Shaq..... who was the one out with a strain calf for so long, and hell how the fck did Kobe get back in the lineup before him with a sprained shoulder?? And btw Kobe isnt the one that is begging for a contract extension either

And I say that the Lakers DO have a chance if Kobe leaves. This is getting tired saying the same sht all the time. My point is that Shaq is still the man in LA and will be for this year and the next. Put Ray Allen or even Desmond Mason in Kobes position and he would win a title. REally am I the one not reading? Get a life.

And I'm gonna state a fact that he won't keep this up, and he won't be a contender for the MVP. Do I need to go to school to know that? Maybe I just need a moderate basketball IQ to realize that. Or maybe I just don't have to be a Kobe dickrider to understand that. Keep hoping against hope buddy. BTW I'm not a Kobe disser, I like the way he plays, I'm just being real, you keep on bringing up tired sht which I have to put down like a bad dog.[/quote]

Why can't I agree with Shapecity on that? It does make sense doesn't it. I'm guessing you haven't been watching the playoffs at all to know what works and what doesn't. Shaqs inside presence WILL lead the Lakers in the playoffs to the finals. Kobe will help and be a big part of the playoff run but Shaq is the centrepiece of the whole deal. Your prediction sounds good but I know what works, especially in the playoffs.

Everything you are saying is Kobe this and Kobe that. I can agree with most of that. But you still fail to see that Shaq is the man that makes this whole thing possible to make it to the finals. I have been watching basketball since the beginning of the season so I'm not basing my sht on last year either or the year before. I'm just not dickriding Kobe thats all, and its probably GETTING UNDER YOUR SKIN LOL [IMG]
