Battie has 2 years left on his deal and has some major sore knees. I am not sure I would want to put up with playing him limited minutes and not having him on back to back games. That's why I say we unprotect him and go HARD after Chris Andersen. I could not stress enough how great it would be to have thi guy's energy off the bench every game.

I've been saying all year that its time the Cavs stop looking to the draft to find players to fill gaps. They need a shooter desperately right now, and nobody out of the draft is going to be able to come right in and be a legit threat right away.

The Cavs need to bring in a proven shooter over the summer via free agency or by trading. If they have to give up their first round pick, then so be it. We are just a very good shooter and a little better point guard away from being a very good team in 2 years, possibly even next year.

If we sneak into the playoffs this year, it will make Cleveland a much more enticing place for free agents.

[IMG] A pure shooter is the missing piece to our puzzle. And mabey another break finisher wouldn't hurt.

    Free Agents Worth Looking At

This guy is no star, and does have a little bit of an attitude problem. But Stephon Jackson is likely to be a free agent (get out clause in contract) at seasons end. Jackson is a good range shooter, ball handler, and excelled passing into the post with Duncan (handy for Z). Jackson fed well off San Antonio's bigs last year, and is a solid 16ppg scorer in Atlanta amoungst all the turmoil. His defense at least last year was also quite good.

If Newble or anyone is picked up by the Bobcats, is he an option???

Other free agents worth looking at......???? [IMG]

He is worth a look simply because he is experenced in being on a title team with a big time post threat and he can shoot the rock fairly well.

    Depends on his contract demands.

His contract demands are likely to be above what we can offer. Unless we let Boozer walk!

And that's really gonna happen here.

    Karma

He did play good D last year in the SA system, which is a great D to begin with and Pop forces them to play D. That still is what would really be most compelling. He also would provide a stroke that we could really use.

and hey I made it to the site...

    Welcome Mustafa.

Good to see you here, you'll love it!

You and Stephon Jackson will be good additions to the team!

If you are looking for a clutch shooter then Buckets is your guy. He has proved plenty of people wrong this year and had a very good season. Not totally sure how much you can offer players for next season but playing with Bron would certainly be something Stephen would consider.

I would be greatly surprised if Newble was picked up by the Bobcats. I don't think they would want to tie their hands with many long term contracts.

The only way we're getting rid of Newble is to package him with Z in all likelihood.

Newble's alright, his contract isn't huge or anything and he's a solid defender, that should be able to knock down the open shot. If I were the Bobcats, I'd take him.

    BTW, Thanks Karma!

We do need an athletic big man.

    Chris Anderson is valid.

Or do we pick up someone like that in the draft?

If we add a wing player in the offseason, we need to look no further than NE Ohio's own James Posey. This guy is hustle, gets losts of steals, can shgoot the 3 decent and is still young. I'd definitely try and sign him if E Will walks and even consider him as an option over E Will.

Stephen Jackson has a quite high contract, he could fit in Cavs system, but I would like another free agent instead, I'll soon come back with a list with players that will be free agents this season.
Then we can talk what that fits best in with what Cavs need and who fits with the team chemistry and things like that.
    So stay tuned guys [IMG]

Posey isn't a free-agent, he was signed to a 4 year deal this summer by Memphis
