Gannon receives broken neck vertebrae. Kerry Collins fills in at QB at leads the team to 4 scoring drives en route to the victory. This looks like the end for Rich, especially if Collins gets some victories in the next six weeks. Norv could quash any and all doubts or controversy by placing Gannon on IR soon.

Guys still playing at that age don't give up easily, but that is a tough one to come back from this year. Tough call on the IR, but if it is done, I think Gannon will start planning his retirement party.

I think that we will hear something in the next two weeks. He came back better than a "young" man from the shoulder surgery. If he shows progress in the next two weeks, he'll stay on the roster. If not, IR is the way to go. But, he won't retire, I don't think. He can hang on with a number of teams in the league if he reaches an injury settlement with the RAIDERS... Probably the Bucs. [IMG]

Collins looked really comfortable. Unless he really faulters, it will be hard to move him back out no matter how well Rich looks.

The fracture was to C-7, and he will be getting more testing done after this weekend. I have a feeling that he is just about done.

It's strange to see a starting QB go down (probably for the season) and not hear the fans talking about next year. A lot of people that I know think that Norv's offense will run better with Collins. Looks like we're going to get a chance to find out.

Collins is a good QB. I'm sure he was just waiting for his opportunity to start after being ousted in NY. I like Gannon, but I think this is an upgrade for you.

Irony: I was listening to a local radio talk show just a week before Gannon's injury. They were all wondering why Gannon doesn't run for first downs as much as he used to. They attributed it to his age, or others thought that Gannon was just now showing us that he can be an effective pocket passer.

It's one thing to run for first downs, and another to try to bowl your way into one.

Collins giveth, and Collins taketh away. Same goes for Phillip Buchanon. The Raiders are now the most unpredictable team I've ever seen. With Gannon now gone, there is no consistency. Gannon was clearly the better quarterback, leader, and brains of this offense.
