Well, I feel it is time that Cavs 2nd round pick out of UCLA, Jason Kapono has earned himself a thread.

Jason had his best game as a Cavalier monday night against the Hornets as he sparked the Cavs back from 25 points down to help win the game.

Kapono had 19 points, 5, boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, just one turnover, and was 5-5 from 3 point land and 7-9 overall.

Does he get more minutes now? Was this just a fluke game? Can he be that shooter that we have longed for? What's in his future?

    Have at it people!

Man, that's a good game for Kapono.
He really deserved his play time against Hornets, and i hope he will play like that more often than one game per season. If he could put up these stats every night, he had been the first player off the bench together with Eric Williams.
Great game Kapono, congratulations so much!

I think Kapono could be like Wally and definitely deserves more playing time. If he was given starter minutes, he could be a 10 ppg, double-figure scorer every night. If Jason stays consistent, I would actually be in favor of starting him so he open out the court and spread the defense. The current starting line up still lacks the shooting ability to make defenses respect the perimeter game. Only when Jason (or Wagner) have a good enough 3-ball.

Very promising game for JK last night. It will open doors for him and will lead to more oportunities for more minutes in the SF spot. Is JK the weapon Silias was searching for? It's too early to tell. Lets see how things go the rest of the week.

Yeah, I think Kapono might be the weapon Silas has been searching for, and he found it at the best time to, when they can take a playoff spot and use the weapon in the playoffs!
Hopefully Kapono is, lets see in the next game, if he gets 20+ play minutes, we could say 75% sure that Kapono is that weapon Silas has been searching for.

I don't think shooting has ever been the question with Jason, it's the other things. Like his lack of speed, and can he play defense, etc. I think he proved he can play tough D, esp. help D. I think in order to give Jaosn big PT, a few things have to happen.

He has to up his physical conditioning.

He has to play hard, like he did last night.

He has to take weaker D assignments. Bron really stepped up his D last night, so I think the smart thing to do with Jason in the lineup would be to take the other teams shooting guard and small forward then give bron the tougher, quicker player to guard and the other to Kapono. Then Kapono could play more help defense and the better one on one defender plays the star.

With Ira struggling more so lately, who do we go with???

Eric Williams was steady as a starter, but has struggled of the bench. We need him off the bench to pick things up with Wagner!

Ira, while not producing "numbers", is playing into the system and the team is winning. His defense is solid, his offense, far from it!

Jason Kapono may geta call up. He gelled well with the bigs and James. If his defense is at least staedy, he is an asset in the starting lineup. If his shot isn't falling, then sit him.

Dejuan Wagner has to earn time. Right now he is too erratic!

Kedrick Brown??? Who is he??? Names is sorta familiar!!! LOL

    Could we go with

    C : Ilgauskas
    PF: Boozer
    SF: Kapono
    SG: James
    PG:McInnis

At the very least Kapono just earned himself some PT with his performance last night. And your right about him getting it because we were down 25 and had nothing to lose. It was as good a time as any to find out what the kid has worked on and learned up to this point. He just might be that 3 point threat we so desparately need.

Screw the Glen Rice and the Walt Williams talks, we got JK. Kapono will definatly mold into that Steve Kerr, Craig Ehlo type of player for us off the bench.

Kapono would for sure add something we really need, a three point shooter. Plus, he plays small forward, and we need someone to start at the position. I think his game would work best in the starting lineup with Eric coming off the bench.

If he played like he did last night, of course I see starter material, but the game in Houston will be a big one for him.

Whoever is playing small forward will be guarding Houston's X-Factor. Jim Jackson has been huge in some games this year, and very quiet in others. He needs to be contained!

I like the idea of trialling Kapono again in the starting five! If he struggles, sub him. Simple!

Jackson would lock up Kapono in my opinion, he is one of the better man defenders in the league.

    Like I said, huge test.

At least Kapono will keep Jackson on the perimeter. Newble and Williams at the moment deserve no respect from their defenders, allowing Jackson to roam and double team in the post! Jackson is a great mover off the ball, so it will be a test for whoever defends him.

How come we didn't see this Jim Jackson in his short stay???

    ^ Good question

I feel he is in much better shape now than he was then, thats the biggest reason I can come up with.

Another reason is the home pressure. There was alot of hype for him being in a Cavs uniform and he took it up on his head.

if he doesnt start, he will see alot of minutes i think. houston has struggled on offense this year and plays stout defense. we will definitely need offensive production from the perimeter to go down there and get another win. im curious to see the yao-z matchup. yao's game is really improving rapidly lately, which will be interesting to watch. if i were silas, id start him. id also not get discouraged if he doesnt come out scorching again, be patient with the rookie. not every rook is lebron. granted the playoff push is also a tough time to be patient.

I would rather Kapono not start, I think that it might be fools gold, so I would get him off the bench again, if he does in fact start and have a good game, then that would rock [IMG]

I guess it doesn't matter who starts!!!

What it comes down to is , as long as who is out there is performing, everything else is irrelivent!

Kapono has at least put his foot in the door for more minutes!
