<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Sixers, however, who lost last night to Brown's Pistons, need to do something.

There's no better opportunity than the one coming this June:

Jameer Nelson will be in the NBA draft.

You need Nelson because you need talent. You need Nelson because you need one miniature dynamo at guard to offset the potential loss of another. Couple that with the fact that Nelson is a local product, nurtured and seasoned by affable St. Joseph's coach Phil Martelli, so he's also a public-relations dream.

I want this kid too,I don't have anything against us getting Okafor either [IMG] but Jameer will be a Sixer,I hope King trades Robinson,Snow and Mckie to get him if we won't get him in the draft.

He may be the best player in the nation for college basketball, but you never know how he'll be in the NBA. What if he's a bust? Then trading Robinson, McKie, and Snow would just be a huge mistake.

Big Dog isn't playing at his normal level,Mckie hasn't been the same after his last injury,Snow wants to be a starter not a bench player.
Maybe Jameer+other players for these 3+two 2nd round draft picks?

This article talks like Allen Iverson & Jameer Nelson would play in the same backcourt as starters. I dont think that backcourt would work, it might work on the offensive side.but on D they would pretty much get killed. Who going to guard the big 2 guards in the league? The thing that made Eric Snow/AI backcourt so effective was that Eric Snow can guard the bigger guards in the league. IMO this backcourt would give up way too many points.

This backcourt would be way too small. Like Henacy said they gonna get killed on defense. Two players in a backcourt that are just under 6'? Doesn't work in this day in age. As much of an offensive punch they would be the defensive end would be too big of a liability.

Can this be a harbinger of things to come? Maybe they do plan on tradin' AI and bringin' in Nelson otherwise it doesn't make the most sense.

There is no way they are going to get Nelson. The sixers will not male the play-offs but will end up with no better than a number 10 pick.

I dont think, I hope they don't trade Iverson. He brings a lot on the court and off the court.

He brings the Sixers Ticket Sales, Jersies, Merchandise, Sixer Gear...etc.

Trading Iverson will make the Sixers like the Hawks, and if they get Nelson he won't bring the Sixers what they want. Losing money would definately be a problem if they trade Iverson.

I say build a team AROUND Iverson, and you might have some better success there instead of trading him.

Glenn Robinson is now hurts. And I can see the Sixers getting better than the #10 pick. The Clippers have better record than them right now. See my point?

Call it weird but a few days ago on this draft website, they had the Sixers choosing JN.

The Sixers have been trying to build a team around Iverson for how many years now? Stackhouse, KVH, Tim Thomas, and now the Big Dog have been brought in to try and compliment AI, but still its not working. Iverson's not getting any younger, and the Sixers are going in the wrong direction.

I think its getting to be the time that the Sixers consider blowing up the team and/or trading AI. I know it won't be popular with the fans, but in the long run I think it may help them out.

Right now AI and TMac are basically in the same situation. They are both top 10 players in the league, but their organizations can't get the right guys around them to make significant steps forward.

I would much rather have Gordon or Deng. I watch a lot of Nelson's games and he is good but I would rather have the bigger point. Or a front line player like a Deng or Okafor. Okafor will prolly be long gone by the time we pick. So if we could grab a Deng or Gordon I would be very happy. If we do make the playoffs and go out early we could go after a Raymond Felton or Hakem Warrick. Plus if Telfair comes out early and drops I would grab him if we didn't take a Felton or Warrick. But I see us missing the playoffs and getting a top 8 pick hopefully.

Iverson isn't getting any younger but they always have something missing: a big man. They need a Sheed type player on the team, someone who can take it inside.

Those aren't players I would really call players to help him. Every team needs to be great to win. Not just one player.

I havent even read majority of the post's in this topic. But just realizing that we're actually waiting on a rookie to save us is pretty pathetic. We were in the Finals 3 years ago. We had a great record last season. We got to the semi-finals ( Pistons won by luck ). And now we already got more losses that our total losses last season is REALLY REALLY REALLY sad. But the way were heading its looks like this rookie is our only hope. Hopefully this guy could help out. But I still dont like that fact that we are actually wating for a rookie to save us. And its not like he's a LeBron James or a Dwayne Wade nor the greatest player in the NCAA. But as far as Im concern, AI needs to leave Philly. Or trade everyone on that roster, except for Thomas, Korver, Jackson, Green and Sam.
