And, for the second straight game, his minutes were reduced.

?Memo was pouting the whole game,? Coach Larry Brown said. ?He pouted the whole time against Orlando (Sunday), too.?

Okur had four points, three rebounds and two turnovers in 12 minutes. He left without speaking to reporters.

?We are going to have our ups and downs with those two young guys,? Brown said, referring to Okur and Tayshaun Prince. ?Tay never pouts, and he?s going to get better. We really need Memo.?</div>

If my coach hated me and I was underappreciated and criticized constantly, I think I would pout, too. However, it shows maturity to accept his role as a sixth-man, and I wish he would. I want him and Larry Brown to get along because that will have a huge impact on whether or not the Pistons resign him this summer.

I noticed the past two games that he is trying too hard, trying to earn back his starting spot. If he didn't have to worry so much about playing time, I think he'd be able to relax more and play his game.

Also, why is Tayshaun Brown's golden boy all of the sudden? What has he done that is so spectacular that he can do no wrong? Anyone?

Brown hates Okur, this pretty confirms it

Okur has no reason to stay If Larry keeps benching the guy in 4th quarters, bashes him to the press, telling him to act more like Tay who has done nothing worth talking about.

Brown might just hate players that disrupt team chemistry. The Pistons brought in Rasheed to play those big minutes in the 4th. The Pistons didnt have faith that their current core of bigmen.Or they wouldnt have took a risk bringing in a guy like Rasheed. Okur needs to know that coming off the bench & contributing nothing. And then going back to the bench acting like a 12 year old girl, isnt the way you earn your spot back. Okur needs to take the arrival of Rasheed as challenge not a punishment.

This all started way before Rasheed arrived, Okur was not playing in 4th quarter of games even when he played well. Brown never has anything good to say about the guy. He has had a soild season considering the lack of minutes he has been given. When given big minutes he has put up some crazy rebound and scoring numbers.

The fact Brown keeps prasing Prince even thought he has been stinking up the court for many weeks.

I think Brown has a thing against Europeans. He doesn't play Darko, either, and when he was in Indiana I think I remember him wanting to trade a German player who he didn't like. I have no explanation for his mindless worship of Tayshaun Prince, I doubt anyone does. I think it's safe to say that Joe D's biggest mistake so far has been firing Carlisle and hiring Brown.

But Honestly, isnt it as a basetball team beyond the point of whether or not Okur gets huge minutes in the 4th. This is a very tense time for the Pistons right now. The Pistons havent really played good basketball at all in the month of feb., they just made a big trade to add a huge pieace to your puzzle. So coach Brown needs everyone on the same page right now. Mehmet Okur acting like this tells something about his character. If he is willing to put him being on the floor in the 4th over the Pistons getting the W. That doesnt speak well toward his character imo, and if I was a Pistons I wouldnt want to go to war with that type of player.

His attuide is normally fine, he never has moaned even when he has been benched when he was playing well, Pistons lost games because of Brown's rotation. It is simply awful at times.

Okur needs to realise that It's all about wins and not me me me

    BUT

He also hasn't deserved some of the crap he has been given from Brown.

I usually would think of Brown as a classy coach, but you don't talk about a person like that to the press. I may be too "Politically Correct" but that's not a good way to motivate someone. There's a difference between calling someone out because your trying to fire them up, and disrespecting them and showing them that your not interested in them (as a player). He should just go ahead and look into the camera and say "Yeah, Okur. I said it. What ya' gonna do about it? Are you gonna cry?". That's what it feels like to me.
I don't know what Tay's been doing, but it doesn't sound like much according to some of the post. I guess he's still getting credit for how he played in last years playoffs.

i was listening to a radio interview with LB just now.

it seems that LB is giving Memo "tough love" right now. i'm not sure if Memo will respond to this well.

Tayshaun seems to understand that the Pistons think highly of him and knows when he's being constructively critisized. OTOH, Memo's confidence seems to be waning right now. LB mentioned that he thinks Memo is reading too much into the Rasheed trade (that Memo couldn't get the job done, so we needed to "replace" him).

so far, LB has done a good job of developing our players individually (Chauncey is becoming more of a PG, Rip is becoming a better passer, Ben's offensive game is developing). i hope that the relationship between Memo and LB isn't hurt too much.

LB hasn't been shy about criticizing his players. throughout this season he has been candid about the team's and players' faults.
