<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The closest active role Odom played in a playoff race wasn't much of a race at all. That would have been last season, when the Clippers finished 17 games out of the final playoff berth in the West -- the same margin by which the 25-57 Heat fell in the East. And that is what makes this season unique. For Odom, for the first time since his days at Rhode Island, when he led the Rams to the 1999 NCAA Tournament, the games in March will count, let alone those in April. Idle until Saturday's game in New Jersey, the Heat holds a tenuous grasp on the eighth and final playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. "It's like high school and college," Odom said when asked the last time the games meant as much. "People respect you and look at you a different way when you win." And then there were the games he played in March and April for the Clippers. "Those games are like the worst games to play in," he said. "They're meaningless. Nobody cares."</div> Click here to read the rest of the article.
I could swear I remember the Clippers being in the race for the 8th spot in the West in 2002, But Odom might have been injured during that time. Saturday should be a good game the Nets will be looking to bounce back from their horrible performance tonight. And with the Cavs breathing down the Heats neck, every game counts for the heat right now. K-mart & Odom had a good battle last time these two teams met, K-mart had 24pts &13 rebs. And Lamar had 27pts & 9ast. So I expect a good game coming up.
Odom really deserves this, ever since he cleaned up his act we began to see his true game. The Heat are actually a decent team now, they just need some more good bodies who can take up the bench, Grant and Jones' spots. Butler's D still remains, Alston's shooting has been a real helper, if you can get someone who plays better point then you'll be set partially. Wade plays an overly great game, he and Odom are your franchise. Seems you're in the same boat as the Blazers, only better.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">they just need some more good bodies who can take up the bench, Grant and Jones' spots.</div> Eddie Jones is the Heat's leading scorer, it would be a huge loss for this entire franchise to lose him and if we were to trade him in the off season it would be almost impossible to get equal value unless we packaged him with someone else, like Caron Butler. Many of our wins this season can be directly attributed to Eddie Jones and if it wasn't for him, we would probably still be back in 10th place instead of being only half a game out of 6th place.
I think we can win without EJ if we get a good shooter back in return, because EJ isn't really a drive to the basket type player anymore and next year I guarantee he won't be the leading scorer

Yeah, I'm happy for Lamar. He's a very talented player and is one of the reasons why the Heat are doing so well this season. Once they get more interior size, I'm sure they can compete for the 4-6 spots in the East...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting HoustonHoopa33:</div><div class="quote_post">Once they get more interior size, I'm sure they can compete for the 4-6 spots in the East...</div> A la Vin Baker. Can you imagine an Odom/Baker/Butler front line with Brian coming off the bench (like he should have been doing his entire career).
