<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the club has signed Lindsey Hunter to a contract. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Hunter was waived by Boston following the three-team trade that sent Chucky Atkins to the Celtics and Bob Sura and Zeljko Rebraca to Atlanta in exchange for Rasheed Wallace and Mike James on February 19, 2004. In a related move, the Pistons placed Mehmet Okur (lower back strain) on the injured list. In 55 games (31 as a starter), he averaged 9.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.05 blocks in 23.3 minutes. Okur has missed five games due to back spasms this season. </div> Press Release
That is great. It just makes it seem like a more lopsided trade for Boston now, they really wanted the pick. I don't care about Hunter, the Okur news is more interesting to me. Either this means that we'll just switch to using Campbell or giving the minutes to the other guys or that Darko would get a few minutes per game. Although, we have said that many times, and we have good reasons why he should play, he probably won't. Damn Larry Brown. As for Hunter, now we have another backup point guard, that is always good to have in case we have an injury.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">But wasn't Hunter just waived today? How'd they get him so fast?</div> No, he only cleared waivers yesterday, he was waived pretty quickly after the trade. I hope Memo comes back soon. The problem with back spasms is that there is virtually no timetable for return, and no idea when the injury will flare up again. It could last for a month, or it could last for a week. I don't expect to see much of Hunter, just like it was before. Seems pretty silly for the Celtics to trade for him with the knowledge that they were only going to waive him, and then the Pistons sign him again.
