I think it's time to make a thread about him, I personally think that he is one of the worst players on the cavs. I hope that they can trade him in deal or something. He can't shoot but always shoots, he can't really defend even though he is supposed to be a defensive stopper. I give Ira Newble :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

Why do we need a thread about him? Unless you have more to add to this, I'm going to have to lock this...

He hasn't done anything worth discussing, so I'm not sure what you are going for.

He is not one of the worst Cavs, believe that.

Maybe, but he is a hot topic right now with him starting and everything, I wanted to know how they thought about him. You can lock if you want to.

No go ahead with it, everyone feel free to voice their opinion, though I know what we will all hear.

Newble thread eh. Ok lets get it over with. He hustles, he has a 5 year deal and plays good defense. Thats why he gets playing time. Plus our lack of quality small forwards opens up the door from him. BTW our worst players sit on the IR.

I think that Ira is a peice of trash, but there is nothing else at SF than him, at least to start the game, Williams is not really producing right now, and Kapono is still a question mark. I think the Cavs need to address this position, or start Wagner and Play LBJ at the SF.

Ira is in no way an all-star, but he isn't a horrible player either. If all he does is be a fifth person on the court to shoot every now and then that's better then a peice of trash. He doesn't loss the ball a lot, and he does have a lot of hustle. You have just taken his mistakes and over exzagerated them.

At least he plays with aggression the whole time he's in there! He dives for loose balls, battles for the occasional rebound, and I love that he took out the Francise last night! He should never shoot the ball though. Every time he shoots, everybody I'm watching the game with just screams "NOOO!", its hilarious. And he misses everytime, its sick!

I just listened to the Paul Silas show, and Silas basically feels we have a great team with Mcinnis at point, Lebron and eventually Wagner at SG, Boozer at PF, and Z at center. He said the only thing he feels is missing from the mix is a "bigtime" player at the 3 position - he said eventually he feels Kapono could definitely fill this role, but not yet, and especially for the immediate future (next season) he needs a bigtime veteran player who can haul in 15 points a night from the SF spot, and then Silas can bring in Williams off the bench.

    And I agree with him.

Ira knows what his role is, and he does a decent job of it. I can't complain too much about his shooting. He only averages 4 shots a game. We can absorb that many if he missed them all............. Which he doesn't!!................Besides, right now.............he's what we got!!.......................Tank

It's not like he's the second coming of Cedric Henderson. At least Ira hustles and plays D.

Ira hustles and TRIES to play D, he is not very effective on the D end of things, I went to the spurs game where he got picked the whole night, and if they ever went the other way on a pick, he would be finished because he overpursues to much, I just don't like the way he plays D, he anticipates way too much.

Ira's main drama is his lack of a jump shot. He had a solid year last season starting for Atlanta, guarding the oppositions key wing scorer. So that says he plays decent D. He plays within the system and has the smarts to do the little things that make half court sets function. That is the reason Kedrick Brown doesn't see time! He gives you the hustle and fight which again is why he starts.

But the problem is he hasn't come as advertised. In Atlanta, he also was the 4th/5th option in offense. But he hit his jumpers. He consistly hit his 15-19 ft jumpers. Now that has disappeared. He shot 39% from outside and 48% from the field. What happened. I was happy when he signed although annoyed at the length of the deal! I thought he could be our Bruce Bowen. Designated wing stopper who's job was to be a role player in offense who just hit his open looks. Well he has been far from Bowen like. More like Michael Curry.

He still has some value to this team, and prefer him starting than Eric Williams and Wags. But I just wish he would find his shooting touch from Atlanta!

Ira definatly isn't a scoring threat. He isn't in there to score. He is there to fill a spot and protect the permeter. He makes fouls that our main guys don't need to take and plays great transition D. Ira's jumpshot is gone because he is not given the ball to shoot. He is given the ball to set up the post. Please refrain your judgement on him being "garbage" because that is definatly not the case. We could have worse.

Why can't we have a thread about Ira Newble. Not worthy of a thread... whatever.

Anyhow, Newble's alright. He handles the ball better than Brown, he doesn't fumble around with the ball like Williams or some of the other players. I'd rather have him out there than Wagner personally. Wagner doesn't finish, plays stupid, takes bad shots, loses his man on d, can't go to his left hand side, has no court vision, it goes on and on. Oh yea, he has no size either. Seeing a player like that makes me really like Ira Newble.

Wow, that is actually on point. I guess his name makes him a fan favorite.

Your constantly taking jabs at the mods is starting to get old quick.

The only reason that I said that I may have to lock it is because it started off with Amherst just saying that he didn't like Newble and that we should trade him. He didn't ask anyone's opinions or break down why he dislikes Newble other than saying he's bad at defense, which he isn't and that he's not a good shooter.

I was afraid we'd start seeing "So and so sucks, lets trade him" every time somebody had a bad game. Then, the discussion picked up so I left it alone.
