Shooting slump fails to stop Williams

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Eric Williams is in the midst of the worst shooting slump of his nine-year career, but somehow the Cavs forward has remained upbeat and more importantly, he's continued to focus.

"I'm a little out of synch, but this is the first time in my career that I've gone through something like this," said Williams, who is averaging 11.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. "I'm taking it better than everyone else. I'm not getting down on myself."

That would be easy to do. Williams' slump began when coach Paul Silas changed the lineup. Silas needed a spark off the bench, so he sat Williams down and started Ira Newble. Since the move, Williams is shooting 3-of-26 from the field (11.5 percent) in his last four games.

Williams' shot has been off but the Cavs have been on the mark. The Cavs have won three of their last four with Williams coming off the bench.

"At the start of this shooting slump, we were on a three-game winning streak," Williams said.

"This hasn't hurt my confidence. It's just a matter of getting more shots. I have to get the reps and try to fit my way back in coming off the bench. I have to get myself into a rhythm. I'm just out of rhythm."</div>

Not just his shooting is off, but his D as well. We need to post him up more, then he'll shoot better.

^I agree, lets post him up, and see how he does, if his shooting get better, because right now, I see no other effective way to get his shooting better.

Well, looks like Eric is still not out of this funk, I actually blame some of this on Silas for making him play more on the perimeter. We should post him up, abusing other small forwards who try and defend him.

We need him out of this funk real quick. We dont have anyone outside James, McInnis, Z and Booz giving us any consistency!

    Offensively we are ugly!

Clevelands offense is really ugly I agree. Williams 12 ppg would really help us right now.

Williams offensive game is ugly. Everytime he gets it and makes a move he looks out of control and he has fallen in love with trying to draw a foul by flailing on EVERY shot attempt inside the paint. After awhile, the refs aren't going to give you that.

He needs to post up and hit the boards. Maybe by getting some easy buckets and getting to the foul line he can get back in the flow.

The Cavs need another consistent scoring option outside of Z and Lebron. If Williams can't get the job done, we'll struggle as the season closes out. (The only reason I left Boozer out is because he isn't a very effective one on one offensive player. )

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When it comes to poor shooting, Eric Williams of Cleveland and Earl Watson of Memphis are the only players who rank in the top five among worst shooters in two of the three categories. Watson is second worst in three-point shooting at 25% (19-for-76) and fourth worst in field goal percentage at 36.8%. Williams is fourth in three point shooting at 26.3% (21-for-80) and fifth in overall field goal shooting (36.9%).</div>

EWill will be ok, he's too good of a player to be in this funk the rest of the season. Better to have him get it out of his system now cuz we're gonna need him for the playoffs. He just needs one good thing to happen to get his confidence rolling. Wednesday night against ATL is a good time/team to start.
