I love this guy but I see him with the Bobcats. He's young and talented and it would be a pretty good opportunity for the guy. I think the cats would be nuts to not take him. The 8 protected players Vlade Miller C-Webb Bibby Peja Bobby Christie Songalia Bad thing about being a deep team...
You'd protect Darius Songalia over Wallace because Darius has SIZE, something that ALOT of teams seem to be lacking. When you have a solid bigmen who's young and shows potential, he'll always be more of an asset than just an average player. Gerald Wallace is defintely likely to be picked up in the expansion draft. He's a young guy who at times has shown great potential, but he's never really seemed to crack into Sacramento's rotation for quality minutes. If I were The Bobcats I'd be willing to start Gerald Wallace and see what he can do, I believe it's possible that he may be something special given quality starting minutes.
Looking at that list, I don't see why you have to protect Divac...With Songalia, Miller, and C-webb, the Kings are very deep in the front court...In addition, it is unlikely that the Bobcats will take Divac because of his age and contract...in which case, the Kings will be able to retain everyone....
I liken Wallace to JJ Stokes, formerly of the 49ers. Both were hyped coming into the league, both shown flashes of living up to the hype, but both still not satisfying. Definitely an exciting player in the open court, but other than that, suspect.
Vlade is an unrestricted free agent next season, so the Kings don't need to waste a spot on saving him. The Maloof Brothers are high on Wallace still, and I don't see them letting him go in the expansion draft. Doug Christie is a more likely candidate to be left un-protected.
Well if Wallace goes, just would be happy to see him play. I'd figure since they don't have Turkoglu, Hidayet anymore he would play more. Guess not, commentators said that he worked on his shot, apparently it wasn't enough.
The sole reason Wallace isn't getting any playing time was due to the injury to Chris Webber. Without C-Webb in the lineup, the Kings relied on Peja as the primary scorer, and with the MVP type season he's having, there just isn't enough minutes for Wallace to play at SF. Combine that with the depth at SG, (Christie, B-Jax) and there's not much left for Wallace except garbage time minutes. I do expect him to get more playing time as the season winds down and the Kings lock up the #1 seed. They will play him more to rest Peja and Christie for championship run. The Kings are in a position to win now, and are not in a rebuilding phase, so there's really no rush for them to play Wallace. He's going to be part of their future when C-Webb, Vlade, and Christie can no longer compete at a high level.
personally i think it would be good of the kings to get rid of him. the kings are holding him back from being a great player its no ones fault the kings just dont have any use for him.
