Ainge says its "His Fault" (article)

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WALTHAM -- Danny Ainge will be at the New Garden when the Celtics try to snap their seven-game losing streak tonight, against the Toronto Raptors. He probably won't be sitting in the stands, he rarely does; but he knows it might get ugly if they put his image up on the Jumbotron. The Green Ship is sinking rapidly in the East and Ainge is the target of Celtic fans.

"What do you want me to say?" Danny said in his office after practice yesterday. "I take full responsibility for things that happened this year."

That means he gets full responsibility for 13 losses in 14 games, for the departure of widely respected coach Jim O'Brien, for replacing all but three of the players on the team since he arrived last spring, and for a team that's 11-18 at home and has played for seven crowds of fewer than 14,000. On the local popularity scale, Danny's now running neck and neck with Gene Orza and George Steinbrenner. It's a big drop for a guy who was a fan favorite when he played here and won championships.

Well although it might not be pretty for a few years I really dont see the big problem with what hes doing. Each year we were either close to the playoffs, out in the first few rounds or lose to the nets...then we would have a horrible pick. when we did have some good high picks we screwed them up...we werent going to win with pierce and toin. as long as they are able to make good draft picks, and bring in guys who will be good two or three years down the road i really dont have a problem with what they are doing. what i do have a problem with is who they have been playing--over the last few games they have started to play the younger players, but before that guys like hunter werent getting any minutes. some of these guys can contribute down the road, so why play veterans now when they will be gone soon while the guys of the future sit on the bench...play marcus banks, hunter and those guys.

Danny Ainge doesn't realize that normally one would rebuild a team when it is doing poorly and is in need of rebuilding. He realizes it is his fault, yet he won't say that any of these moves were mistakes? I hope he goes to a game soon, a blow-out loss, so he can hear how much this is upsetting the fans. He deserves to hear those boos, they're for him.

yea...although i do agree that blowing up the team is the only way that we can go back to our old winning ways he really could have gotten much better deals...much better.

LOL, Danny Ainge is horrible. First his comments were "People who are critisizing me don't know what their talking about, they don't understand what I'm trying to do with this team." Now that everything has really fallen apart, he goes to admit it's his fault. We know that, he simply depleted a Celtic team who was probably a big man away from contending for the finals, it's a damn shame....

I like Danny as a commentator with Kevin Harland and George Thompson. He should've stuck with that, even Barkley can't quite understand what he's doing. But they weren't gonna win with a Pierce and Walker either like TD21 posted. But he didn't have to deplete the team this much. Even if Ricky D posted the same numbers he did last year, they might be better, but not much and still would struggle to get to the playoffs or even not make it regardless.

I suppose acknowledging his ********* transactions is a semi-step in the right direction...but it still means nothing.

At least he is admitting he messed up. Now that he isn't going to continuously defend his decisions maybe he can just get on with his job and make some good first round draft picks.
