Now that TD has gone down with a quad injury, there is no way that KG will not be the MVP this season. It's sad that it has to happen this way; I'm sure some haters will say KG only got the MVP because Duncan was injured, but anyway I'm glad that Ticket will get his.
I wouldn't say that KG has it locked until he gets it. You can never say some one has it for sure until they have it. What would happen if, god forbid, KG would get injured. I too hope that this will help KG in getting the MVP award this year, not that he needs any help.

I can't really say that he has it locked.Duncan might surprise us and win it in the end. But KG shouldn't have a problem winning it if he doesn't get injured or something but since when has he had a problem with injuries?Even if TD hadn't injured himself,KG would have still won it.
Never rule out Tim Duncan with the MVP, most people thought Jason Kidd would get it two seasons back, Timmy got it and most people thought KG would get it last season and Timmy got it. There's still a long time to go in the regular season, then there's the playoffs. Right now, I'd give it to KG but he's not a lock for it by any means.
The only way I see Garnett not getting MVP, if he gets injured, or the voters think he had too much help this season from Cassell and Spree. I highly doubt that, though.
In my mind, Garnett is the reigning MVP, but since Duncan one it back to back, they won't give it to him for 3 straight years. I think Garnett has it locked.
I disagree with KG being MVP. Yea he is putting up better numbers but as tim has been leading the sprs to their victories and we all kow that the spurs have no depth. KG has backup such as cassell and spree. Duncan also has backup but its not consistant like the wolves. Tim will be getting MVP for three seasons in row because he holds the spurs on his shoulders hopefully will bounce back from this injury and defend his title.

It was quite lopsided actually: 117-92. So far for the reigning MVP having no backup. Once again: KG has got it locked.
KG is mos def the front runner right now but by no means does he have it on lock. Their is about a month & a half left in the season, the West is still up for grabs. So alot of things are still left to be decided. Its starting to be the regular season crunch time, the time win even MVP's lead their teams down impressive stretch runs. So out of the 2 main MVP players Duncan & KG, who ever comes up the biggest during this time will more than likely walk away with the award.

I dont know what you are talking about. As the Post above says they beat denver without TD and i dont know if the T-Wolves could do that without KG. *^~..~^* KG FOR MVP *^~..~^*

Talk about your duplicate threads. Is this the Raptors forum? Whoever started this thread is just stating the obvious.

If that's the case, then Jordan didn't deserve any MVP's since he had Pippen & either Grant or Rodman, along with Paxson, Armstrong, Kerr, Harper, etc. Also, if that's the logic to be used, shouldn't Timmy give up last year's trophy since KG had Wally while TD had a productive Malik Rose, The Admiral, Stephen Jackson, Speedy Claxton, Bruce Bowen, etc.??? Omission from Spursfan's post: KG's made this team great by being a charismatic & effective leader. It was KG that got Sam to finally take training camp seriously because of KG's practice habits. It was KG who took Sam & Spree aside before the first training camp practice & told them he had their backs but he needed them to have his backs. Spree & Sam both said that helped the team gel alot faster & led to the chemistry issues becoming a non-factor. Furthermore, KG's unselfishness has helped Trenton Hassell, Mark Madsen & Fred Hoiberg become vital contributors, which in turn have helped the team become a consistent & highly productive team. Assimilating 10 new guys onto a roster is risky at best. That it's turned into the best record in the Midwest Division & challenging for the best record in basketball is nothing short of an inspiring testimony to KG's leadership skills & his awesome skill set. TD's a talented player but he hasn't done nearly that much for the Spurs this season. To give TD the MVP award this year would be utterly disgraceful.
You gotta define MVP first to say who wins it. If you take one guy off your team where would your team be? I thought the way KG played, if he wasn't on the team the wolves would have struggled to even make the playoffs. But then the argument was that the team didn't win enough games. Now, some people say he's got a supporting cast that maybe he's not as valuable. But just look at what he does for the team. The interesting thing is that he has a better supporting cast, but all his numbers are up. He does deserve to win it.
I find it ironic that spurs fans seem to be making the argument of no help for their star such as Twolves fans did last year. KG MVP
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Aaron:</div><div class="quote_post">I find it ironic that spurs fans seem to be making the argument of no help for their star such as Twolves fans did last year. KG MVP</div> Amen Aaron. BTW, KG did today what no one had done before by winning Western Conference player of the month 3 months in a row. He's been the best player in the conference over half the season & it hasn't been that close in any of the months except December, when Sam & KG would've been close. If that doesn't make you an MVP, then the award doesn't mean anything. BTW, absent KG's leadership, this team would be average in the West at best. Yes, Sam & Spree have helped but can you honestly say that a team with Sam, Spree, Hoibs, Hassell, Oliver Miller & Erv Johnson would be a contender??? If you're saying yes to that, then you're kidding yourself. KG's leadership brought this team together alot faster than anyone thought. Most preseason predictions were for them to take 2-3 months to gel. Try more like a month.
