With the Cavaliers rolling towards the playoffs, should we look at any available free agents to add to our depth chart???

Recently Ron Mercer and Lonny Baxtor were releaseby San Antonio and Toronto repectively. Now I know we have a bit of a hole at small forward, but Mercer is not the answer. Just shoots the ball too much, and doesn't have that 3 point range we crave.

However Baxtor could be of some value! He is a power forward of which we have none outside Boozer. For depth reasons alone he is valuable! He already when with the Raptors destroyed us in one game! Release Boumtje Boumtje, and sign him on!!!!

    Thoughts.................

Yea Baxtor would be a nice guy to pick up.....Silias is a PF coach and if Baxtor has any potential at all, Silias will get it out of him. Look at what he's done to Boozer. He also cam from a winning program in college and played a full enough amount of time. He definatly would be an upgrade of Ruben Boom shake shake shake the roomtje.

Should we add a player, or sit on our current roster.

I'd like to add a big body, preferably a power forward to backup Booz. I like Lonny Baxtor, but there is also Torraye Braggs, or veterans like Oakley and Tyronne Hill!

    Thoughts.......

Baxter got released??? He was playing very good for the raptors and i wouldnt mind seeing him in the wine n gold to back up Boozer. The cavs dont have anyother pure pf Boom Boom is more of a C in my opinion and Boozer needs a solid back up. They Cavs should have signed dion glover before the raps got there hands on him. They should try to get their hands on a pf or just a forward that could be solid , I say take Baxter or someone like Linton Johnson, not a veteran like Oakley.

^ Linton Johnson was signed by the Bulls on a 10 day contract. I'm not after a veteran who hasn't played all season like Kemp, Oakley or Hill. Lonny Baxtor to me would be a nice fit here to fill that void of no power forward behind Booz!

Lonny would be a great back up forward behind Carlos and would make a great duo front line with either Battie or Diop for the 2nd unit. As for Ron Mercer, he is also solid with a nice touch mid range. He can bring us about 14 pts a night if signed but definatly not what we are looking for at the 3 spot. All in all, Pax might need to bring in one more key player to finish this play off run. The more help the better.

I kinda find it bizarre that Paxson has not addressed the backup power forward position. Battie is much better suited at center and on top of that is very injury prone. The other option Williams, isn't effective offensively as he uses his strength advantage over small forwards, which obviously doesn't have the same effect on the power guys!

    Get Baxtors number Paxson!

Baxter would be a heck of a pickup. He did play well against us that one game. Atleast he can go get the easy buckets.

Well seeing that he has played one good game and can get the easy baskets, puts him ahead of Diop in the rotation!

    Sad but true!

Same thing thing happend with Battie. "The Cavalier Killer" shortly joined the Cavs after he busted 20 plus in our faces.

Lonny Baxter is a great back up for Boozer, and he can play good defense unlike a lot of the players in the NBA. The Cavs could pick up Linton Johnson III after his 10 contract if he dont get signed for another contract by the bulls, although i dont see what he could help us with other tahn being a back up SF.

So thats the reason we picked him!!!

I thought it was the freakish talent and maturity he possesses. Guess I was off the mark!

So did you guys put a petition in to draft LeBron, or did you chant his name outside his office until he gave in. Who was Pax going with??? Darko

    LOL

What's the consensus on Baxter?? This guy looked like he might have something at Maryland. But, on the surface at least, he didn't bring anything significant to the NBA!! Two teams in 2 years? Waived at Injury riddled Toronto to get Dion Glover? I know Williams is down, but they've got enough dead wood on the Raptors, that surely if Baxter had anything to offer they'd have retained him.........................?????

There must be something we don't see here.........Anybody got any ideas.................................Tank

I was surprised he was waived by the Raptors. Seems like they are going with a short term fix, signing Glover! Baxtor is a little undersized, but he has a little bit of game which is better than nothing, which is what we have behind Booz right now! Eric Williams isn't suited there, and who knows how long Battie will last. Cheap risk!
