<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nuggets, the Nets' opponents tonight at the Pepsi Center, are expected to be one of many teams wooing Martin when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Nuggets, who will have about $20 million available to spend in free agency, are expected to be suitors for Martin, joining Phoenix, the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah, Atlanta, Charlotte and Detroit. Denver could front-load an offer to Martin in much the same way it did for Andre Miller last summer. To help keep Miller from the Clippers, Miller's offer sheet included a $10 million signing bonus; he received 70 percent of the $6.4 million base salary for this season Oct. 15 and received $14 million before playing a game for the Nuggets. The Nuggets' priority free-agent wish list is believed to include Martin, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Detroit forward Rasheed Wallace and Dallas guard Steve Nash.</div> Link
Yea thats what I'm wondering, I keep hearing all these things about Denver trying to aquired PF's, but what about Nene??
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">Get your hands off him. . We'll be giving him a max contract. </div> No you will be forced to give him a max contract by matching an offer, not something I would do though. Your cap situation would be screwed for years.
Kenyon in Nuggets jersey<----sweet! If Nuggies get K-Mart then they may be up there with Minnesota,LA,etc. next year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">No you will be forced to give him a max contract by matching an offer, not something I would do though. Let him sign elsewhere? From the looks of it, the Nets are forced to choose between KMart and Jefferson. Since Jefferson will probably ask for a big contract down the line. Sign KMart and our cap situation may be screwed for years, but at least our line-up will be set for years as well. I must admit that KMart in a Nuggets jersey is a sweet thought, since Im a Nuggets' fan myself but with Melo around, I'd rather have him in a Nets' jersey where he's an acknowledged leader.
Question is Are you just settled on making the finals and going no further for the next 5-7 years? giving Martin the max could be a good idea but as great as Jason Kidd is he won't be that effective in 5 years time, his speed will likely be gone. I agree with the money he got but not the amount of years on his contract. Jefferson will want decent money, likely Corey Maggette cash. You have to look at it from the standpoint of the future, can Nets really afford to overpay Martin and have two max players? It's not really that wise unless those two guys are the utlimate superstars, Kidd may be but Martin will likely never reach that level, he will be an all-star for years but he won't be put in the same sentence as guys like Duncan, Garnett e.t.c Nets have a tough decision on their hands, matching any offer may not be as simple as you might think.

The problem with today's ultimate superstars are: 1. They want a team they can call their own. (Kobe, TMac) 2. They are loyal to the team that they helped built. (KG, Duncan, AI) 3. They want to sign up for a championship team. (GP, Malone) 4. They're old who wants to sign-up for a long time contract that has a good chance of them not finishing it. (Shaq) Besides, teams have what we call untouchables. Of course we can go for the stud guards but in the NBA, you have to have someone who can play and defend the post. Thorn may be an ex-executive of the year. But there's a very slim chance that he can sign a West ultimate superstar. We have Kidd locked for a long time so why not lock a perfect compliment for him? Of course we can name others more fitted for this role but I don't see them signing for NJ.
Nene would be moved to C, seeing that if the Nuggets did sign K they wouldnt have enough money to resign Camby.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">Get your hands off him. . We'll be giving him a max contract. </div> They should, he is the New Jersey's future.
Nugs trying to acquire him is sweet... if Kenyon really comes to Denver I see that Nene will go to play center. I hope he doesn't complain and just plays because Kenyon, already a tremendous defensive player, is becoming an offensive force by each game. Having him will be huge for us, man, I will love this team even more, I'm sure all of the Denver players will love having him on the team, especially Melo. Dog Kenyon is gonna back up his teammates every night, giving them 110% every night, playing off pure competitive emotions, and that's what you love from a teammate. Seeing him in the blue chromium road Nuggets jersey will be damn... so nice!
The Nuggets already got Marcus Camby and NeNe, why do they need KMart? No way NeNe is coming off the bench, that guy is quality material. But can he play Center? Kmart is a pure PF and so is NeNe, what will happen if they sign him????
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cArMeLo15:</div><div class="quote_post">Man, Nene will get eaten ALIVE at center</div> why's this? He's 6-11 and 260 lbs packed with muscles plus an acceptable amount of bodyfat... he can certainly bang down low, defensively he can improve that 6.7 rpg and only 0.5 bpg, but he also has 1.4 spg for a center and that's showing some D there. He wouldn't get eaten alive there, he can play center. Obviously I'd let Camby go to sign K-Mart... Camby is a defensive force, but so is K-mart... Camby is more injury-prone... consider this
I don't want him playing center, YET. He's only 21, and to put him at center on a nightly basis would be tough for him.
Nene played center last didn't he, with Juwan at the 4, and he's big and has a very long wingspan, but I also wouldn't want him at center, I don't want K-Mart.
