On www.hoopshype.com It says he might be back to play at the end of the regular season. I really think he we should sign him put him on the bench maybe for a back up or let me sit until next year. Imagine him and lebron as our backcourt. Sign him!

It looked like he was lightyears away from returning to the court by the way he was walking at the allstar game.......Besides, if he was that close, why would the Bulls have proceeded with his buyout??.....................Tank

what tells us that Jay Williams won't do this again??

I think he might do it but possibly wont.. It's a big risk kinda like the Willis Mcgahee issue..

^ I think he's got brains big enough to sell his motorcycle already... after all the accident almost took his life, let alone forever not playing basketball. I think the only risk the Cavs face if it really signs him is his remaining ability to play basketball... what's left? I can't see him coming back this season though, he can barely walk and run. Perhaps next season, and this is a good risky investment, if I were the Cavs management, I'd want to see him in a gym first, if he's close to being the player he was during his rookie campaign, I'd sign him.

Jay said that when he plays basketball again, he wanted to be in Chicago. He feel he owes it to Paxson.

^ yeah, he should feel that way, this team has been very generous to him, because it could have easily just terminated his contract for riding the motorbike

Jay Williams in no way will play for any other team besides the Bulls. He stated that if he couldn't play basketball ever again, he wanted to work with the Bulls in the management dept. BTW, the man was injured his whole career, you think he would be the same as he was before the accident? I wouldn't do it at all, and neither whould he.

If my memory doesn't fail me, last I heard is that he is training under coach K at Duke university, after Duke basketball practice, He comes in and does his physical therpy and then works on his shooting and ball handling. I think he said for sure that he will be back next year and will play for the bulls. I think he will make a full comeback and win comeback player of the year. Even if he doesn't make it back to Basketball, he should win comeback player of the year, he almost died, and now he is almost in shape to play. What a great work ethic, I would love to meet this guy in person. [IMG]

I don't see him being a great player. I think he'll come back and be a good player in a few years, but is that really what you want to do? Sign a player and rehab him while taking up a roster spot for a few years just to let him become a decent player.

Plus, he said if he came back, the Bulls would the first team he would go to about it.
Of course, I'm sure being with his boy boozer would also be high on his priority list.

In my opinion, he's just going to be another great college player at Duke who bounces around the league for a while and then moves on. He wasn't even having a great season with the Bulls last year, as most of the fans I heard from would have much rather seen Crawford logging the majority of the PG minutes.

I don't think anybody knows whether or not he'll ever be the same player again and the Cavs PG situation isn't their most pressing need at this point, so it doesn't make sense to sign him.

He's an ok player, but I wouldn't touch him if I was Cavs management.

to be fair to Jay,he was a rookie but showed flashes of brilliance last season but the Bulls were so bad that alot of nights he'd get going on O and the opposing team would just clamp the D on him real tight. The rest of the team sucked and none of the other cats could make up for him bein' taken out of the game. Need we forget Jamal Crawford & Jalen Rose's awesome shot selection or Curry and Chandler's ability to under play every game?

    Duke - injuries

Personally, between Hurley and Williams, If I ever drafted a Duke PG i would put it in their contract that they are not allowed to drive a motor vehicle. Shame that all of that talent got wasted.

I hope if he comes back and does well that he will be the bench PG behind Kirk Hinrich.

Speaking of Duke PGs, whatever happened to William Avery?

william avery is a classic case of a player leaving college for the nba before he is ready. i believe he was a 2nd round draft pick (minnesota maybe) that obviously never panned out, i dont think he is on an nba roster now. he sure could shoot in college for the dukies though.
