What are your thoughts on Pietrus after getting your first real glimpse of him these past few games. The guy can play ball. He is very athletic and plays exellent defense, especially for a rookie. I would like to see him matched up on the point guard more often. I don't know if anyone else noticed this but he put great ball pressure on the Pacers tonight and made it real difficult for them to bring the ball up. Once they got it up there was not a lot of time on the shot clock. He creates havoc on defense and you gotta love it.
I agree with Pietrus on the Point Guard it will allow the team to play without a true point out there since Dunleavy can play that fairly well on the offensive side. I was thinking the same thing, with playing Pietrus on the PG on D and have Dunleavy run the point. I started thinking about this when I heard rusty Larue was going to be the back up point guard. I didn't think Muss would try it though, but he did and it worked out at least for this game.
Muss was dumb for ever having chosen Calbert over Pietrus for defensive purposes. In all of the limited action I've seen him in, the warriors usually play their best defense. And it's not like Cheaney doesn't make mistakes either. The "French Jordan" is energy.
This is what I expected from Pietrus- good defense and athleticism. Expct him to progress tremendously as a player when he gets more playing time this season.
He is best off the bench and at home games. That guy really gets the crowd into it. Especially with those dunks of his. Totally awesome. I think the starting lineup should be Dunleavy, Richardson, Cardinal, Cliff, Dampier But the best of last night against the Pacers was this lineup Dunleavy, Richardson, Pietrus, Cliff, Foyle Pietrus and Foyle were something else on Defense 27 to 10 scoring run or some crazy figure.
Pietrus has great energy and its great to see his athleticism and tenacious D. However, Cheaney has not been a stiff. He locked up Bryant in the last Lakers game when he was torching the Warriors. I want Cheaney back.
I also love Cheany's game. Mabye he is predictable with his moves but he is so good at that mid range shot. I does a very good job defensively as well. It was nice seeing both of these players in at the same time last night. Our team defense really picked up.
Sometimes, I just don't see Cheaney as a factor in games. Maybe its because he quietly does his business. But often I see him getting stupid reach in fouls and making his shots a lot harder then they have to be. Like I said before, he's great as a starting shooting guard for the Warriors when A.J. and Dunleavy are out on the floor together it seems. Like the beginning of the season when Jrich was suspended and when Jrich was out with the ankle.

I think Petrius needs to be in as much as possible for the rest of this season. Maybe since Chaney has a 1 year contract he will be gone this summer and Petrius can take on Chaney's role. He will not be a rookie anymore, and he will have all summer to develop his jump shot. How were his dunks last night? Where they 1 or 2 handed?
Cheaney's role is to mentor the other players. If you look at his character he's a very coachable guy who is good role model for the team. He doesn't try to take over and he knows his role. I think sometimes he is ordered to shoot the ball by Musselman because why else would he be in the game so much taking some of those shots. I don't mean to be all wishy washy. But I figure Musselman continues to put him in because he wants it that way.
I love this guy. He's one of the only reasons Im still watching Warrior games, Im glad he finally getting some playing time. Once he mentally understands the game and gets his offense sharpened he will be savvy
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post"> How were his dunks last night? Where they 1 or 2 handed?</div> His first dunk was a one-handed dunk through the lane and the other was a two-handed flush. They weren't spectacular but they sure got the crowd going.
Pietrus is an exciting player, his dunks, you have to admit were nice, especially for never really getting the chance to showcase, believe me, he'll be throwing down in the next few weeks, and they'll only get better, especially when he'll get a JRich type put back...the anticipation will be unbelieveable. Pietrus did a great job D-ing up at the point. I think he's going to have a great chance this next game against the net's. I guess Kidd is hurt, but Pietrus can D up against Jefferson and Kittles and force the Nets to beat them inside. Cliff and Damp can contain Martin.
Did anyone read the SLAM story on Pietrus in the fall? It said that Jerry West was very interested in Mickael, seems like he's right. Pietrus looks like the kind of player who makes full use of his time to create future possibilities for himself. I think he'd be better served coming off the bench as an energy player.
Pietrus is a french clone of Jrich. I thought that was the reason for getting him. If Jrich jumps ship, we'll have a rookie that emulates him.
I don't think that was the reason. Pietrus has a bright future and was probably the best choice of all of the players left.

Haha, I knew you'd see that one Trip! Yao rocks. Yeah I was just thinking how Bosh's game is kind of like a cross between Kevin Garnett and Tim Thomas. A mismatch waiting to happen since he can play almost all 5 positions. But yeah I know I probably brought that up before about wanting Bosh and Yao.
